I noticed that too. I keep thinking, "pass the ball". With him holding the ball, that allows the defense to reset.

Aaron Ellis has shot the ball a lot less than Blair. He has done that because he knows his role on the team. To be a defender in the post. He has to guard the best post becuase Durley is not as capable of doing so. He also turns the ball over a little less than Blair.

Blair's role on the team is to be a spark and scorer in the post off the bench. Part of a team is everybody has different roles and both of them know their roles. I like Ellis as a starter and i really like the way Marshall has it. I find it scarier seeing Blair and Stutz off the bench then it would be Stutz and Ellis.

The way it works right now, either Blair and Stutz play against guys starting to run out of gas, or the other team has to go to their bench.

Ellis starts the game playing hair on fire D, which tends to tire opponents, while not giving up much in the way of points, while Durley is working the offense and scoring.

Then about 6 minutes into the game, Stutz and Blair come in and both of those guys can score - especially against tired starters or second-stringers.

Yeah, about the time a team is starting to adjust to the game and starting to maybe get the first hints of being winded, WSU brings in a fresh 6'8" guy and a fresh 7' guy. Try to gameplan against that.

If you think it's not working, then you think WSU should be 16-0 and rated in the top 10 in the nation with a team without a single 4-year Sr.

Not to pick nits, but Hatch has taken the same number of shots as Hannah and Kyles in just a few more minutes. He's also taken 57 threes, which is second to Murry, who has played way more minutes. He's also attempted the 3rd most FT's, so he's also taking the ball to the basket.

Leave Hatch alone. He's doing just fine. And if our head guy doesn't think so, I'm sure he will take care of it. The difference between Hatch two years ago and now is ---- well you know what I mean.

As to Ellis, he fills a role on this team and is a hell-on-wheels defender. If he doesn't score, I'm cool with it as long as he defends. Now those free throws are another story.

Here is a summary of production of the four "bigs" based on playing 40 minutes.

Nice lines one and all if Stutz can cut down his fouls so he could play 40 minutes.

Noticed that in the CU postgame press video on GoShockers Marshall starts out by talking about what a great job Ellis does for us and then when Dana gets behind the mike he talks about how our length bothered them and specifically mentioned Ellis.

I will take #0 in the starting five any day of the week.

(And Blair coming off the bench as the sixth man continues to work pretty well too).

I can't say this for a fact, but maybe by the time CU adjusted to Ellis' length and D to open the game, the Shox were up by 12.

Today that was "game over" before Ellis even took a breather. Sometimes it's hard to figure out that causing the other team to score fewer points is the same thing as scoring points yourself.

anyone that doesnt realize ellis starts for chemistry purposes is an idiot. anyone that doest realize he is the worst post player on the team is an idiot. and finally anyone that doesnt realize that this is what is working for the team is an idiot.

why change it up at this point? ellis is effective, and this way wsu doesnt lose anything when they bring in blair and stutz? personally i think it is better this way b/c at the beginning of the game wsu is slightly more guard oriented and then they show the depth...

worst player on the team? i did not say that. worst post player on the team? yes i did. he is the 4th best poston the team. i suppose i should have stated that he is the worst scholarship post player on the team but that is a non issue b/c the guy contributes.

did you even read my post?

I know that your post was supposed to justify Ellis's spot, but I disagree about it being a pure chemistry issue. I will say that Ellis is the worst scorer in the rotation. That sucks, because he looks like he should get 10 points off of hustle and athleticism alone. Doesn't matter. He is a player and he shuts down opponents on the offensive end, completely wares them out, and then we bring in the big guns off the bench to punch em in the teeth. Our 4 bigs are lethal, and the deeper into the season we go, the fresher our legs are going to be in relation to the competition.

As coach Marshall said yesterday on the postgame. Each player has his strengths and weaknesses, it's the coaches job to mesh it all together to make a good TEAM. Ellis' strength is his defense, and that is why he starts. Plus, he's pretty good at winning the tip-off.... :D
