There should be a rule that Shockernet posters use a handle recognizable on other basketball forums. That way we can razz them if they make fools of themselves.

I did.... but now I'm wondering if I should have!

Definitely wasn't trying to over do it, but when Lobo fans chime in about arenas and such, it's hard to put a sock in it....

I am a believer in cordial discourse because we've had enough idiots from other schools coming onto this board posting arrogant, negative crap. I have no beef with their fans, and usually people appreciate respect--after all it is THEIR board. I think the most 'buttering up' I did over there was to say we respect their team and know it will basically be a tough game, which it will. Anything else misconstrued was not the intent.

Saturday is going to be fun. It can't get here soon enough.

A lot of the talk was on how loud Koch got. I read somewhere that Koch gets between 100 to 110 decibels and the Pit had the highest rating ever recorded at 118. You have to wonder if they passed out horns that day to get it that loud  !

The best way to get a good opinion is to ask those fans from Texas Tech that are going to be travelling to both Wichita and New Mexico which one they thought was louder. They will be the only ones without a bias.

I didn't even know they had ever measured at Koch, but you're right. It's fun to brag though!

Was at the game, it was crazy and it was nice to see it that full again. Its been a while. One thing I noticed before and after the game was how well it appeared each coaching staff respected each other and got along. Lots of longer than normal hand shakes before the game. Man hugs not just pats on the shoulder. Tech is a good team, I hope they keep winning.

                        I'm just sayin'
I agree with you. I have gone to a couple of Ku basketball games every year for the last 20 years (free tickets and usually a free meal before the games).

The atmosphere there is great. They have large student sections on both ends of the court but I have never seen the Phog get into the frenzy that the roundhouse gets when it gets hopping.

I am sure a lot of it has to do with the design of the "roundhouse" and the way the fans are really on top of the court.

Also consider the Lawrence barn has about 6,000 more peeps there too.

Crowd noise last night didn't quite measure up to the Florida State game......I could actually talk to my wife once in awhile.

It came real close to the FSU game though. I didn't get to attend the game vs. U of Iowa back in the 1981 NCAA, but I've heard from others that it remains the best ever in terms of decibel generation.

To this day, I've never seen a moment of that game outside of Smithson's "falling down" at the FT line in the final moments.

Lol "without bias", that's funny. What if they go to the Pit and blow the Lobos out? They will certainly be biased towards suggesting that the Pit is way louder than Koch. Bias is why there will never be an answer to what is the loudest bball venue....and I love it that way!

Would "without obvious bias" be better?

Anything you read other then pure stats is going to have a varying bias based upon the writer's personal preferences, experiences, etc. I find it hard to believe that I would need to state this. My point is normally a third party can have more of an objective opinion.
