Crowd noise last night didn't quite measure up to the Florida State game......I could actually talk to my wife once in awhile.
It came real close to the FSU game though. I didn't get to attend the game vs. U of Iowa back in the 1981 NCAA, but I've heard from others that it remains the best ever in terms of decibel generation.
To this day, I've never seen a moment of that game outside of Smithson's "falling down" at the FT line in the final moments.
For the first 30 minutes, the crowd noise at the Iowa game was nothing to write home about. The last 10 minutes was about as rip roaring as it gets.
The FSU game was rip roaring from the git-go.
"Prediction is very difficult, especially if it is about the future."
The Florida State game was great. Generally, the atmosphere for post-season games will trump about any regular season game.
One big reason for that is you replace a lot of the casual fans in the corporate seats and a few of the less rabid regulars with dyed in the wool, bleed black and gold fans. The average level of rabidity goes way up for those games.
The Florida State game was notable for the sustained instensity throughout the entire game. It was an exhilarating as well as an exhausting effort by the fans.
That said the Shocker crowds at the last two games (TCU and TT) have been great. Special shout out to the student section and all the fans who filled in the upper reaches of the Chuck. I love it when the sound rains down from above and visually it is an impressive sight to see every seat filled as it was for the TT game.
