I like the no more whistles, we beg to differ, and we need to have the band learn "Oooooo, that smell, can you smell that smell".

          .

KGSO Morning Show. Chris Allison talked about it at length.....although he did refer to this site as shockernet.com....a slight breach of etiquette Chris.

This is bad, but the chant used to be 'The ref beats his wife'.
Don't go near Biddy, its been bad for 15 years. We finally figured it was their way of clearing the homeless off the streets.
I don't want to sound self righteous or anything, but come on...
I played biddy back in the 80's along with such people like Woodbury, Dreifort, and the Zigler brothers. I went on four all star teams to New Orleans and Puerto Rico to represent Wichita at these tournaments and we did quite well. I also know the man who personally started Biddy in Wichita and attended church with his entire family. In no way was Biddy just a way to clean up the streets.

Now to be fair, I have been away from Wichita for 19 years now, but to say that Biddy only exists to clear the homeless off the streets seems a far cry from what it used to be. You did say that it's been bad for the last 15 years, but I just can't imagine that it's gone that far downhill.

Just keep in mind, it's a rec league. It's not AAU. It's designed for kids to go out, develop a little, and have fun. Again, at least that's how it used to be.

As a former ref of Biddy too, I think the funniest thing I ever saw was when my partner, who was quite young, blew his whistle and then asked the coach of the team he blew the whistle against what he should call. If I remember right, the coach was Ray Staats who ironically coached the "Shockers" Biddy teams.

            Gotta love the Biddy days.

Biddy has changed, it was in the 90's when we were there and the leadership was terrible. You say it is a rec league, then they should have gotten rid of those all-stars teams. I remember when they got sued by a parent of a player for not making the team. It was totally out of hand out there. Didn't even let our youngest play there.

I would like to vote "We beg to differ' as the new chant!

It's gonna take more than just me. Ever try to get a new chant going by yourself? It's IMPOSSIBLE. Anything more than two words...

The guys you need are the four slushbuckets in my section. They'll scream anything with a profanity in it. These refs suck will be impossible to replace in the student section, unless you use a different four letter word. Get in touch with one of the drunks, then you're in. Or better yet, find a game when the fraternities actually care to show up early. Get all their drunks in line...

There's too many people who will be difficult to get on the same page during a game. You really want to reach the students? Print a flyer, a cheer guide. Frankly, the student section needs one. I'd do anything I can to help, but if you want to coordinate the whole student section during game time, be my guest. This needs more thought than "get one dude to start hollering in one of the most heated moments of a heated game..."

The next thing ya know, you'll be telling me to rush the court when we beat Tech. It'd be awesome, yeah, but not something I'm going to do by myself...

Lets just sing this song in unison... even us old farts will join in. :D

                              "Three blind mice,
                              Three blind mice
                              See how they run,
                              See how they run!

                              They all ran after
                              The farmer's wife
                              She cut off their tails
                              With a carving knife
                              Did you ever see
Such a sight in your life
                              As three blind mice?"
"You Just Want to Slap The #### Outta Some People"

I don't agree with this statement.

I have coached in the YMCA league, the Biddy league, MAYB league and the Parochial league. Each league has it's positives and each has it negatives. For the record, all of their ref's for the most part are horrible. YMCA ball is not competitve, a few teams are, but they are the exception and not the rule. Biddy ball is very competitive, but a helter skelter type of play, to much slapping at the ball and not using your feet for defense. Parochial ball was competitive and a little more disciplined, but the talent top to bottom wasn't as good. MAYB was probably the best of the four, however it is mostly a summer league. None of these leagues are perfect, but neither is the coaching or the officiating.

Can you tell me where there is a better league?
