    Agreed. So far ...

Very little ball pressure in backcourt.
Minimal back cuts on overplaying the wing (pulled one out early in the 2nd half Wed.).
Not too much switching of defense - there will be a lot more - a Marshall trademark.
No Cleven Hannah (oh wait, Pitt won't see that either).

But truthfully, it wouldn't surprise me if Marshall has held back just a little so that he can throw it all at Pitt and surprise the heck out of them.

And I agree, this team can run!! And they almost never look out of control. The ball movement has generally been very good. Definately alot of fun to watch!
I agree we pass very well, but you have to remember that we have not yet seen a REALLY GOOD defense. Long passes just BEG for someone to step between the two players and steal it. Valley teams are not going to be that easy to pass against. It will be interesting to see how the game with Pitt plays out.

        • I will say something in GS's defense. I think the officials were in "you're the 7'guy from the D1 school and you're not getting that call" mode. Stutz was getting hammered pretty hard when he was going up for shots. I hope he learns to go up a little harder.

I've seen WSU teams run the way this team does. Ralph Miller was the coach. I remember that with every rebound, you'd look for the guy running down the court and watch for the guy getting the outlet pass from the basket to pass it to him. It's about the same way now.

Some of Gene Smithson's teams ran a lot, but with the rebounding and athleticism those teams had they couldn't really help it much.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

          • Durley is really off to a solid start. Do I think Stutz will redshirt next Season? There are lots of games left this Season that will give us a better handle on that. I hope Stutz come on strong and improves where he won't redshirt. If we have all of these inside players, what about this idea? Could AE also play some small forward? Coach Marshall calls AE our best defender of our post players thus far. However, could he not also defend from the S.F. position? These all are nice issues to have with our much improved quality depth!!!!!!!
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

            • Minutes at the 4/5 next year are going to be hard to come by, and Ellis and Stutz are the only possible red-shirt candidates, so that means we are six deep for two positions. I definately like the idea of moving Ellis out to the SF for 5 minutes a game as waranted by the opponent. If we are truely 6 deep in the post, meaning we have 6 contributors with little drop-off in talent and ability, then we can go totally situational with our subbing. I think we may see alot of that.

              • Correction: Stutz would be the only redshirt candidate.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

To me, GS is not even a logical candidate. The season is young. Give him a chance!!
