If you redshirt GS, I think that would put him in the same class as EO.
Would you really want to lose and have to recruit two centers in the same year?
WSU tradititionally has enough trouble trying to sign one center, let alone two of them.
I'm sure we'd pick one up between now and then and wouldn't need two replacements at the same time. Who knows how players will develop but we're in on a few for '11 and '12 I believe. And we have plenty of 'ships to use those two years to fill out the roster.
Hell, after next year we lose 3 PFs. I don't think that's a major concern though and we won't be signing 3 in '11.
After watching EO play at NEO last week, EO is a physical specimen however his basketball IQ is more along the high school level. Hopefully the lights come on and he gets "up to speed" so to speak quickly.
It's going to take a year or even two to catch up mentally IMHO. I hope I'm wrong but those with immediate sky high expectations are going to be disappoointed...very disappointed.
It would be great if GS could redshirt. He needs to. I hope he can. I don't see it happening.
I think that GS will finally "get it" and just start playing instead of thinking so much! He is too mechanical with his moves and you can tell he is just thinking too much. Maybe it is a case of a little over coaching. In my humble opinion, at this point he just needs to be told be physical, play hard, and that's all I want. Maybe if he hears that he will begin playing basketball instead of thinking basketball.
Ehimen will be FAR ahead of Kenny when he steps on the court next year, as far as basketball development. I compare the 2 because both are supremely gifted, athletically, and both have a lot to learn basketball wise.
Ehimen has a brilliant mind. He will pick up what he is taught.
Assuming he stays healthy, he will have no problem getting minutes and being a game changer on the defensive end next season. Offensively he will have to develop, no doubt.
He simply isn't going to be a 5 minute a game nightmare of frustration.
You know, Garrett could have been perfect last night and scored 23 points in 14 minutes and still a lot of people would have lamented as to how slowly he ran up and down the court. He's fine, and he's only going to get better.
It took Paul Miller 5 years to get to the type of player that we saw his senior year.
If you give Garrett another year to develop, he'll be in the same situation. Give him only 4 years and he won't reach that potential until after he graduates.
What's most important is the "controlled" part. Instead of making bad passes up court or driving on in to trouble, they appear to be taking that first first proper step of controlled fast break.
As they understand each other better and get more comfortable, this could be awesome!
Getting away from this discussion for a moment and back to the game.......
Is anyone else enjoying the controlled but absolutely breakneck speed that the team shows, more often than not?
There are times 4 players are in a full sprint and it's literally microseconds from point A to point B.
And KJ is the fastest of the fast. Lightning fast. Mercurial.
This is the most exciting WSU team I have watched in a while. The style of play is fantastic. I love to watch them run.
I have seen WSU teams that could move the ball up court quickly, but none with the ability to finish like this team. These tall, athletic guards can really find ways to score on the break.
I liked hearing HCGM talk the other night about how most of the defensive time was just in the "normal" defense and not the frenzy press or monster defense schemes, IIRC what he called them.
Now if we can just step it up to a brown-streak-in-the-opponents-shorts level of defense, I'd love that.

I think HCGM is saving the good stuff for Pitt. Don't get me wrong, I am sure he has ran about everything he could in these games at times just to gage what he has. But truthfully, it wouldn't surprise me if Marshall has held back just a little so that he can throw it all at Pitt and surprise the heck out of them.
And I agree, this team can run!! And they almost never look out of control. The ball movement has generally been very good. Definately alot of fun to watch!

If you know Gregg, you know Pitt hasn't seen what we'll give them. Whether it's good or bad remains to be seen, but I promise you there are many arrows in the quiver.

We will press and put tons of pressure on them. We will trap, run and try to cause turnovers. On the press we will have AE in the middle Kyles and Murry on the wings with hatch playing centerfield and Durley back. With that length and quickness we will bug the heck out of Pitt. I love watching AE play D while his hands go nuts! Nobody wants him guarding them.
