16 steals and only 8 turnovers. The stats look really good.

A first half like that against Pitt and we'll get flattened.

I did like how we came out with a bit more purpose in the second half. We still missed a lot of bunnies. Our D was pretty solid. I also liked Blair at t he end. If he can hit that fall-away on queue, that will be huge.

        Arkansas-Monticello won't win 22 games this year.
        Deuces Valley.
        ... No really, deuces.

I'd prefer not commenting on the last 10 minutes of the first half.

I'm a Stutz supporter, but let me be the first to say he should have had 20 points tonight with the touches he got. He gave up a lot of points in the paint, too. Not a good game for GS. I fear for what Pitt's inside players will do to him if he has another game like this.

Welcome to Wichita, Mr. Blair. Glad to see that his earlier performances may have been because of rust from the year off. He's got a nice shot.

We have some depth at PG. 2 of them out of the game and the play at that position wasn't an issue.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

The first half was bad offensively, but pretty good defensively. That is basically all this team did last year. It will keep them in ALOT of games, even Pitt. Just like it kept them in against Georgetown and Michigan St last year. The difference with this team is that they can still put up alot of points in bunches. College Basketball is a game of runs and that is what makes it so exciting. The nice thing about this team is they can actually go on runs of their own this year. When they aren't firing on offense then their defense keeps them in it.

I like this team...alot. They are gonna be just fine! It does get tougher Monday, but like coach said they will probably play "up" to Pitt.

Watched them play GT and MSU last year in Orlando. The team this year does not struggle nearly as much as they did last year to score. In every game this year (albeit not great competition) the Shox have moved the ball around to find the open guy and gotten good looks at the basket. I really feel that with the ball movement and players moving without the ball trying to find the seams in the D this will be a much improved version over what we have seen in the past.

It is great to see the efforts, hustle, and improved game by Mr. Ellis. Gabe Blair also had a nice game tonight. Our inside game has improved but how will we compete Monday and Tuesday?
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

I understand the feeling toward the play of GS. He just doesn't seem to be playing at the level or intensity many expect. However, for some perspective, many of us here were saying the exact same thing about JTD at the same point in his development.

Yeah, you gotta give the guy a break for tonight. Defensively, he wasn't that bad. He got beat on the back side a couple of times, but so did JT and so did Aaron. Offensively, it was just one of those nights where nothing worked. He got frustrated and he got tight. It happens to everybody. The feeling in our section (122, Row 30) was that he looked .... an awful lot like Paul in his sophomore season. If you remember, Paul had a nasty habit of passing out of the post when he was one-on-one right on the block. Garrett at least has the guts to go for it, he was just in his own head and thus a step too slow tonight.

Hey, if he busts, you can tell me "I told you so," just cut him a little slack. Dude can't even drink a beer yet.

                      • It would be nice if Garrett could get in a redshirt before his career is over. I think that would help him tremendously.

There had been a rumor floating around a while back that if-and-when Ehimen showed up, Garrett would immediately redshirt. I don't know if it'd be a good idea at this point, with two years down, taking him completely out of the competitive element for a year. Would he really learn anything new in that year off? Skills aren't his problem, being comfortable in game situations and asserting his will are the problems.

We've stuck him with the "Fifi" tag. I'll admit it. Not because he's a bust, but because he's not a "bulldog" (as ShockBand puts it) yet. The first time he mows over somebody for a dunk, even if he gets a charging call, we'll drop the tag. Simple as that.
