For years, we've been dreaming of a PG who could get 7 assists per game.

Now we have a SG who's doing it.

The assists Murry gets in transition and off of penetration won't go away after there's a full-time PG to play with him. Murry is going to be one of the best overall stats people at WSU in a long time and will probably end up on several career lists.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

I was considering starting a new topic on the future outlook for point guards. IMHO we are set for two more years. Murry has proven he is a very good one. I'm sure he would love to continue to play PG, at least some in future years as that would be his position if he goes to the NBA.

Williams and Manigualt have shown enough that we (and staff) should be comfortable. For those of us that follow recruiting, it appears we continue to concentrate on point guards. I think it's time to bring on the forwards.

When David puts it all together, he'll be just as good as Eldridge and Stinnett, I have no doubt.
I was just thinking the same thing about Murry, although he is a little bit different type of player thanKyles, OE, and p'a s. Check out his line (through two games of week competition):

15.5 ppg, 7 assists, 4 boards, 2 steals, and 3 to's per game. Those are POY numbers if this team wins the MVC!
These stats are against a Div. II opponent & a low-major. If he continues these numbers against better competition, then I will be impressed.

I believe I pointed out that his stats were through two games of week competition. The season is young and we will have to see how it plays out.

A quote from the pitt board:

Toure Murry is a very good mid-major guard but he has to also carry the point guard duties with their starting point guard and best three point shooter still ineligible. JT Durley is an undersized, muscular post not unlike Dahlman from Wofford...he uses his body well and can step out on the floor a little bit. They also have a 7 footer who won't embarrass himself but isn't terribly good either.

As a team they CAN hit the 3 but don't shoot a lot of them or shoot them particularly well...very middle of the pack. They also don't rebound well so we won't be at a disadvantage there.

What they do exceptionally well is the same thing that Marshall did at Winthrop, they pressure the ball on defense and force a ton of turnovers and run their sets on offense to get good shots.

They won't be an easy game by any means but their strengths match up with our strengths...I'd feel great about this game anywhere that wasn't Kansas City.

            .......

Wichita state doesn't rebound well is a bit of news to me.

That was an intelligent analysis minus the rebounding thing. We don't have any dominating rebounders this year, but we will rebound well as a team.

So the KC thing is worrying them? I'd be worried too if I was playing a team that has the potential to be very dangerous in their own backyard.

I'm a bit surprised we haven't seen more action on this board from Pitt fans. In many past non-cons, we have seen at least some cross postings.

Maybe they're not into that. 8)

I think that a lot of their fan base is still focused on football. Having a top 10 team in the country will do that to you. Their fan base probably won't really get into basketball until football season is over.
