If you followed Stutz through the recruiting process in the recruiting forum here, then yes, you are probably disappointed greatly with him.

It's hard to see if he's improved any when we play teams like FDU and such. He looks about the same as last year, 1 game in.

I will say his hands are softer than a baby's bottom.

    ... No really, deuces.

Demetric twisted his ankle and is icing now after the game. Per one of the assistant coaches on the after game show. He said they don't know how bad it is until the trainers can evaluate it.

Stutz did score 7 and grab 3 boards in 13 minutes. If he gets Durley's minutes that works out to 12 and 5, but several turn overs. Ellis had 30 minutes (and deservedly so) but Stutz scores 17 and 8 with that kind of time.

Stutz has some work to do. He brought the ball down at the top of the key and they collapsed on him. There were a couple of opportunities for him to grab the rebound where he just wasn't strong enough to pull it down. The offense slows down with him in, but he should be good against the zone. He altered 2 or three shots and only let one guy score on him that I recall.

IMO he will be a good asset to this year's team, but will not really blossom until some point next season.

Ellis and Durley will have the opportunity to dominate the Valley this year! Oh yeah, so do Kyles and Murry.

wufan - Stutz can't get more time than what he got if he fouls out.

Ellis was fantastic today--great defense--blocks, strips, active arms, altering shots--nice array of offense--great jumper from the short corner that's going to e a big asset against a zone, sweet reverse layup after cutting to the open space under the basket--lots of solid rebounds and clearouts. Really impressed with Aaron today, and looking forward to more games like that.

Agreed. He also wouldn't get 30 minutes a game if he is going to turn the ball over that often. I was trying to make a point about his points and rebounds per minutes played.

The real story today was that Durley, Ellis, Kyles, Hatch, and Murry all look like players. This team is deep.

It looks like Stutz is more of a project than the coaching staff originally thought. I hope that EO picks things up faster than GS has.

I'm glad we have Stutz on this team and think he will be just fine.

Has no one learned from the Paul Miller years?

Everyone who is complaining about Stutz after his first game of his sophomore year are demonstrating that they lack ANY knowledge the development curve for big men.

I'd bet that there are very few here who would be willing to admit that they we the ones calling Paul "Fifi", but I'd also bet that those people who said it are the same ones who are down on Stutz right now.

                        1. Blair is fair more athletic than Clemente was, and could be a big asset in the press, but he is not the warrior that Ramon was. We may miss that intensity.

                        2. Kyles and Manigault will cause havoc on in the press and trap, but they both have lapses on D.

                        3. Stutz is an awful lot like a young Paul Miller. Remember all the "fifi" threads. This kid has more upside. Patience.

                        4. Lots of fouls in the frontcourt. I imagine that Felter may actually get some minutes if/when he becomes eligible.

                        5. Hoped we would have a sellout; should have. We saw flashes of what is to come. The next few years are going to be chock-full of steals and fast breaks. This is gonna be fun to watch.

The difference between Paul and GS is that GS was hyped up pretty good by a lot of people here to be the "slamma-jamma" in the post that would dominate the Valley.. And that he would be a difference-maker from day 1..

Right now, it's day 35. I'm still waiting..

You must be a newbie. Miller was hyped too from the very first. During his Frosh season, he was injured and out for the season. But he was hyped and people were disappointed with his play for four seasons. They backed off when he had a great 5th year Senior season.

                              Stutz will only progress gradually.
