    • Yes, ADES has perfected avoiding the "visible war" with the clock snafu in STL.

Believe me, you want to know the guy in charge cares and is in the trenches with you fighting for your program.

      • Maybe your right. Show me quotes from other athletic directors who fought the NCAA in public to help me decide.

        • I was told, sisters cousins brothers ex-roomates girlfriends uncles aunts nephew, that it will only be a matter of time before we get another "Death Penalty" for LOIC.

Frankly, I can find nothing in our current Athletic Administration to lead me to believe this to be an exaggeration.

It's a sad day to be a Shocker when our AD again takes the high road in the face of controversy, and again left our basketball program hung out to dry.

For anyone under the slightest suspicion that our program will continue to rise, and excel, and bring back football, you are GREATLY MISTAKEN.

If we still have Coach Gregg Marshall, Coach Chris Lamb, Coach Jody Adams, or Coach Stephenson (or anyone currently with program) in 5 years I will be one SHOCKED Shocker fan.

I am just plain speechless over the continued indifference from our Athletic Department, and it starts at the TOP with ADES. All things may not be DIRECTLY his fault, but they are HIS employees.

As long as he can continue kiss the arse of the UPPER donors, he will probably be safe in his position. Everything else be damned.

          • It sucks, but I'm not sure what people expect. Any further appeal, be it through NCAA channels or a court of law, would take longer than 3 games to complete.

            It is what it is.

The proverbial silver lining is that DW will get some quality minutes at point. If we can pull off a victory vs. Pitt, we'll be riding high when Hannah returns.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

            • With over 300 D1 schools in the NCAA, is this the only instance of something like this happening? I find it hard to believe that WSU would be the only school. If other schools had paperwork problems, what were the punishments for those situations?

              • Unless you do research this is probably the best answer you will get:

“However, the NCAA is treating all similar cases that occurred during the 2008-09 season with a withholding penalty.

So we're all supposed to just keep quiet on a message board and take Sexton's shortcomings up the tailpipe?

Total lack of control and backbone. This cannot happen. Something needs to happen.

We don't get to play Top 20 programs from major conferences every day. Not being full strength because of an embarrassing error in the biggest non-con game on our schedule and a chance to assert and prove ourselves is just plain DISGUSTING.

Our chance to make some noise in KC just took a huge hit.

                  • We can yell and get mad at Sexton all we want. I'm not happy either. I just don't think it's going to do any good for our AD to fight the NCAA publicly. I think very few in their right mind would do so.

I don't think we should add his release on the situation to his pile of sins. The department not taking care of simple paper work matters is enough to be outraged at.

What I expect is for a spokesperson from the A.D. office to say something like "This will not happen again and the person or persons responsible have been dealt with accordingly. WSU understands the position the ncaa has taken and will accept its ruling BUT we strongly disagree with the decision and are very disappointed by the severity of the ruling."

instead we get "wsu would like to thank the ncaa for looking into the situation and giving us a fair and just punishment. The ncaa has assured me it was fair. And we all know the ncaa to be a fair and just institution."
Marge: The plant called and said that if you don't come in tomorrow, don't bother coming in Monday.
                      Homer: WOOHOO! Four day weekend.

I could find no information on other players being suspended for any length of time for this offense.

                            • If this was Duke, they'd just get a one game suspension which could apply to an exhibition game. In football, a guy can gouge a guy's eyes out and get one game. But little ol' Wichita State messes up some paperwork and we get hammered. Freakin bastards.

Good thing he's getting a worthy punishment that he can sit on the bench in street clothes and think long and hard about.
