Are you a native of KC like I am or a Wichitan that has little knowledge of the KC area and the fanbase there? Have you paid any attention to KSU recruiting lately?

I appreciate your opinion and your fervor for your own team but my friend - prepare to be stunned.
1)I have not met Frank Martin.

2)I take others opinions of everything and hold almost no weight with them....I make up my own mind (for good or bad).

3)I think Coach Marshall respects the hard nosed approach of Coach Martin. However, just to play devil's advocate, do you hear a lot of coaches speak poorly of other coaches? I doubt Gregg likes Dana, for instance, but he only speaks well of him. Regardless of what is posted on message boards, I do not believe they are anywhere close to being "good friends".

    4) I am not from KC, but have much family that have lived and currently do live in KC. I am sure you know the city better than I, but I base my opinion on facts and history, not hope and promise.

5)I have paid attention to Ksu recruiting. Coach Martin has recruited well of late....however, to ignore the shortcomings of the athletic program as whole, and the activities of some in the basketball program in particular, is nothing but good old homerism at it's finest.

But then I am sure that Catbackers.com is talking about a Big12 Championship appearance after the beat down of A&M last night too.

Please be specific about "activities of some in the basketball program". Yes we have had issues in the athletic department but the people that were in charge at that time are gone and the new administration is doing a great job of righting the ship. But we can agree to disagree and if I'm wrong you're welcome to flame away later.

He can flame away now if he wants to. Not later. You wanna know why?

Because this is a WSU board, not a Kitty board. If you want sympathy for the Kittens, go back over to Powertard.com.

That's good to see all the bandwagoners come out to support KSU in their time of short success. When they come crashing back down to normalcy, so will the fan support.

The Sprint Center would likely draw a couple thousand KSU fans in KC. They are, as mentioned several times, a very distant third in the KC area.

And as to the original topic again, I don't care one way or the other if we play. Sure I like all state schools playing each other. But if we do, it won't be no stupid "Bram"-KC-IBA series. That's for damn sure.

Sigh, I tried to be nice and have a civil discussion.

I do have a question. Why does the WheatShocker radio "network" have only one station?

          One.

          Just one.

          ??????????

          KSU has 32 stations
          KU has 29

Methinks very few in our great state care about WSU athletics.

Because Shocker fans are well educated, make money, own computers and know how to listen to it on the internet.

The typical KSU alumni only means of listening is on their tractor.

Then why is your mascot a WheatShock? You know, something that requires a tractor to produce?

That was weak - you can do better :D

K-State owns rural Kansas, which has roughly the population density of western North Dakota- hence the three dozen radio affiliates necessary to reach, on average, 52 souls per station. Awesome! If you need evidence of this fact, you need only listen to one, single commercial break during a Wildcat sporting event. Congrats on owning the chaw-in-the-cheek demo.

KU owns smug, financially over-leveraged Johnson County, dirt poor Wyandotte County, and moonbat-filled Lowrents. They can keep all three for all I care. I don't have a clue what the ratings are for KU coverage outside of the aforementioned areas, but it's got to be stupid low.

Wichita State, and it's one carrier station, owns the market in the largest city in the State- Wichita. It's not even close on the KSU and KU fronts around here, when it comes to media coverage. Listen to our local sports shows, both radio and TV- let me know what you hear discussed most often. Walk into in any sports apparel shop in the Wichita metro- let me know what logos and colors you see over-represented. Take a meal at any sports bar in Sedgwick County- let me know the school most often displayed on the walls. Lastly, we must be doing something right considering WSU alums make up the most commonly represented alma mater for salaried employees in the entire Wichita metro. It's a fact not even open for discussion. And when it comes to most of the salaried jobs around here- we're not talking about low skill marketing fluff, non-prof emos, or public relations BS.

                          EDIT: friggin HTML.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_12_Conference ... If you scroll down to the Big 12 school who's NEVER won a national title in anything, oh wait , it's K-State!! Let's face it, KSU fans aren't exactly wild about their athletic department. People with deep family ties attend KSU cuse their family did. I mean, why the hell else would they go wear purple?? :goshocks:

Well done! I knew you guys could do better. But please spare me the "largest city in Kansas" BS. Yes, Wichita is the largest single municipal entity in the state but the population of the Kansas side of the KC area is much larger. Miami, Johnson, Wyandotte and Leavenworth counties are a single metro area that is made up of several cities that, taken together, are far and away the largest built up area in the state. My point is that there is little to no interest in WSU outside of a 60 mile radius of Wichita. If you go into any sports apparel store anywhere in Kansas outside of Wichita there are very few, if any, WSU products for sale. Not saying that's a bad thing. If WSU doesn't want a presence outside Sedgwick county that's fine but that simply is the way it is. Possibly the Board of Regents sees the WSU mission as serving Wichita as a commuter school while the 5 other state schools serve the rest of the state in a more traditional college atmosphere.
