Best of luck to Gal and all our guys getting NBA looks. Wouldn't it be great if WSU went from zero NBA players to several!

Yes, he has his flaws, and he'd admit them. But still (as far as I know) he represented WSU and the City very well.
Actually Gal has some surprising stats from his time here at WSU that are actually pretty impressive compared with recent point guards we have. He just played a very different style PG than folks around here are used to, and it makes it easy to kid on him. But I'm gonna be very excited to watch him play in the NBA when he makes it.

Hey I liked Gal and frankly hated to see him leave, even if his favorite move was going baseline and jumping out of bounds looking for a open wing. I would have loved to see him as a senior on the 09-10 team.

His padre however was a nightmare.

Gal really got the fans involved in the game...

I don't know what it was about Gal, but I had a feeling he could have developed into one of the best PGs is shocker history if he would have stayed and stuck with it. The transition from Euro ball to American ball is harder than vice versa I guess. His skills were through the roof, but his knowledge was lacking and the transition was too hard, and ultimately home was too far away. There is something to be said, though, about your pg serving active military duty in the time he isn't playing ball.

Gal was pretty good down the stretch. He would never have been recruited for HCGM's system, but by the end his offensive stats were impresive and he was our primary defender on the perimeter.

I figured he would do well in the long run. Would have been fun to see what a senior version of Gal could have accomplished.

Looks like Gal was able to lead his team, Maccabi Haifa, to a 86-79 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv in the championship game. I'm not exactly too informed on the Israeli basketball scene, but going by my excellent research (a simple search for Gal Mekel on Twitter), it seems to have been a big upset. Gal was named MVP for both the regular season and the final game. He dropped 21 points in the championship and had 7 assists.

Little article on a Bucks' fan site about Gal: http://behindthebuckpass.com/2013/06...li-basketball/

Two league MVPs in four seasons is fantastic, in Israel's premier league. He's getting a shot at the NBA with all that interest.

Huh, I actually have a very good friend that is in Haifa right now, doing a summer work camp in Israel and he ended up there.

From the pictures he sent me of Haifa it is a beautiful place.

Here's hoping he makes a roster so I can use him in 2k14.

Point guard Gal Mekel, fresh off leading little Maccabi Haifa to an upset of Euroleague Final Four regular Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv for the Israeli championship earlier this month, appears to be inching closer to an NBA roster for next season.
