Something that may effect a guy like Richardson is the weight room. It's not uncommon at all to see guys get to college and struggle with their shot some once they really start working out for the first time. I'm assuming he started lifting as soon as he arrived in Wichita and could need some time to adjust. Especially if he lifts before they play. I know a few years ago that had an effect on a few players who came straight from the weight room for the games.
You make a great point.
The players do lift before play.

I would also submit that Stutz is spending extra time in the weight room, as opposed to spending more time on the court. And that is what we want. His shot was always soft, now we need everything else about him to be quick and tough, and that won't happen by playing these pickup games.
I'll give Hatch a pass, to some degree. He's the old grizzled veteran, and he's married. Give the man a few months to enjoy that part of life. I'm sure he'll be back soon (probably around camp time or in July when some of the other guys return). After all, he was the one who surprised us the most, maybe he's got something else up his sleeve while we're all distracted by pickup games.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....
.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

Agreed. I might also add that I don't think that any of us should have reason to doubt Hatch's work effort based on everything we know about him.

Hatch played today (friday) missed his first 7 3pt shots and made his last 5 in a row. Hatch got winded early and often. In my mind i had hamilton down as a likely RS but he looked really good. he made 3 pt shots had several monstrous dunks (where the back board vibrated for several seconds afterward) and is so quick and fast for someone his size. he has a ready to go body even though Kerry will make it better. CH looked so good his 3pt shooting was just nuts he hit one over hamilton on a stepback that at its peak was at least 20 feet higher that the rim. i thought it was going to bring rain. GS was there but did not play at all he watched and kept going back in the tunnelfor 15 to 20 minutes at a time. he was in shorts and tennis shoes i think may have been lifting. AE looked good in one game he hit 5 midrange shots from 10 to 20 feet in a row. he is so quick played really good hustle defense. JT was good and was talking trash a lot especially to hamilton. touree may have put on some weight, but at the least has a much harder toned body than last year. he was really shooting well today. Several posters have noted previously how david kyles was scoring from all over. Dunks, drives, midrange jumpers, etc. Well everyone is correct he was by far the leading scorer today (friday) i was the only one in attendance not on the court. but on one offensive rebound david went up to rebound and the ball took a odd bounce to his right. he changed his arm direction caught the ball andslamed it in one motion. I stood up and yelled. KM did not scoretoday. his athletism is very apparent. he really handles the ball: dribbling, passing, catching and passing very well. in warm ups his shot did not look very good. he is very athletic and if he works on it it will come. These were all my observations and opinions only. I needed this pick up game to help get me by till practise starts.

Thank you!

Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive. (Mt 21:22)
If Hamilton continues to be able to score away from the basket it may be hard to redshirt him. At the same time that just makes us deeper in the post. Stutz, Hamilton, Durley, Blair, Ellis. Coy is capable. I'm not sure how a 5 man rotation would work but if we want to run and press I'm sure it would. And none of those guys will graduate after this next season and we should be adding EO. Foul trouble may not be much of an issue :D
Hey can anyone get some pics of the action? thx in advance!
Yes, just post your email address here and 'Cold' will forward them to you... then you can post them here. 'Cold's' still serving his term in the Shockernet detention center; however his eyes and ears are upon us.

I think the question still hangs over this team ... Will Stutz develop into the player that we all expect him to be or not? Durley, being a Junior, will come on some, some think he will quite a bit, but still up in the air is, what strides will Stutz make this year?
Sophmore players usually make good advances in their play, showing signs of whether they will become a star player in that year or beyond. Garrett needs to start to learn how to become a leader on the court this year.

Unless they were good freshmen, then they suffer the sophomore jinx. Hopefully Murry isn't stricken with it this season.
