Mizzou is trying the Gene Smithson 'sit on the lead' strategy... sometimes it works, sometimes it backfires... just ask Paul Pressey.

Lets hear it for Conference USA! :good:

Cold and Mr. Kleenex are intimate tonight.
I love Memphis and what they have done in their conference but I don't cry when they lose. That being said, the closest I came to crying over a Memphis loss was last year in the NCAA Final. I was REALLY depressed when that other team hit that miracle jump shot. What a horrible, horrible, night... That game was awful..

This afternoon is a 'reality check' for Oklahoma... NC is quicker, longer and stronger... what a shame!

            Cold, I disagree.

I respect what Calamari has done with the Memphis team, he's no doubt one of the "it" coaches in college ball right now. But I was very happy to see Memphis go down in flames during the Championship game last year, and here's why:

Some of the players that Calamari recruits are thugs. Exhibit A is the breakaway dunk that their center made, when the ball was dead he turned around and almost tackled Aldrich with a shoulder bump that he had two steps to avoid. That is tech #1 the Tigers should have gotten in the game.

Tech #2 was the two handed ball bounce to the rafters when the 'Hawks were closing and Memphis knew that they couldn't hit the FTs to keep them in the game.

Bill Self is a great coach, and Memphis was the likeliest of teams to catch with the foul and hope strategy in that stage of the game. Memphis was too used to dominating their opponents and they were beaten by the two things they never had: poise and discipline.

And this is why I really don't get your love affair with the Tigers. Yes, they have a great athletes and smash a conference that is too weak for them(like you think the Shockers should be doing). So what? They don't play college, team basketball. That's what I like to see, and it was the reason that I was thrilled when I watched Chalmer's shot fall from my perch in Allen Fieldhouse with all of my high school buds(who are now Jayhawks).
