Shockers in CBI

We are getting wayyyyy too excited about the CBI...

Personally, I am excited to get to see our Shox play again in CKA this year. It's not necessarily the tournament that excites me.

i work weekend nights - so I am excited because I can participate and be one of the shocker fathful and actually be there as apposed to listening to the podcast!!!

Cold is down on the world at the moment and I must confess to being mildly concerned about his mental state. Look at his posts here and on Valley Talk during our "cinderella" run and tell me something hasn't changed.

Some of us on here would make a lot of fun of other teams getting so stirred up over the CBI...

I am only excited if we get a BCS team to come to our building. That won't happen so I am not excited.

I guess I'm happy for GG receiving any post-season bonuses. I am happy for the players that want to play, getting to play a few more games.

I am not happy that Wichita State's Mens' Basketball team is playing in the CBI three years removed from a Sweet 16 run.

I am not happy that Wichita State fans are thankful to be in the CBI three years from a Sweet 16 run.

The CBI is not a reward. It is a very discouraging milestone.

It isn't fair that the team that performed the best in the league, UNI, gets to practice as a team for at least 2 weeks, perhaps longer, while the rest of our conference sits around stairing at the walls..

I actually disagree with that statement. You get what you deserve. It's even more of an incentive to want to play well through the season so you get extra games at the end.

Like I said, I'm all for us in this thing since we're in it, but how many damn postseason tourneys are there gonna be?

Pretty soon 2/3 of Division I will be playing basketball when they surely did not deserve it.

I guess I'm in the minority when I say postseason should be something that is rightfully earned. IMO, that stops at the NIT.

You are right, they already do that in D1 football. Too many insignifigant bowls. All you have to do to be bowl eligible is a .500 record. Basketball is going to be that way and already is in some respects.

I have not heard one Shocker fan express the aforementioned position.

What I hear Shocker fans saying is that they prefer to have their team still playing as opposed to sitting on their rear ends in their dorm rooms watching 128 other teams still playing, and that hopefully, the addtitional games and practice will be benefiicial towards improving the team for next year. I'm not sure what the problem with that is, but your are obviously free to assume the year is done and ignore the Shocks until next year or whenever we get enough super athletes to interest you.

It's nothing more than the sad progression of what once was a proud fanbase to what it is evolving to. A new generation of fans that actually breath a sigh of relief when their name pops up in the CBI.

There was a day when we would turn this "bid" down...

Oh well, "us mids gotta get what we can".. !!!111

Disagree. The '06-'07 and '07-'08 seasons were discouraging milestones. '06-'07 for exposing how much more Paul Miller had to do with our success than Coach T and our four returning starters. Last season knowing that we were quite nearly starting from the ground up, as if we just added basketball. This season things are much improved and we'll be playing in some kind of tournament. I think that's an encouraging milestone.

If we're playing in the CBI next year, that will be a discouraging milestone.
