That was the absolute worst clock operation that I have ever seen. Not only did he take two dribbles, but it was a moving two dribbles. I don't think the clock started until after the first dribble and maybe not until the start of the second dribble and then the ball was almost to the rim when the light on the backboard lit up. Taking off the in flight time, he would have had to make that move in less than 1 second.

The clock certainly did not start when the ball was first touched. He touched it, it hit the floor, he picked it up and took a dribble and jumped then shot. Also, the replay when they were determining how much time was left clearly showed the ball not yet on the floor and the clock was at 1.9. Thererefore, the clock should have shown 1.8 or perhaps more fairly 1.7 or 1.6, allowing time for the refs to whistle the play."I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".
A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

It doesn't matter anymore - we had our chance - but I will say this - IF J.T. wants it - he can be the MVP of our league next year!

Oh well
As those of us who root against KU recall from their NCAA victory over Michigan State some years ago when the Kemper Arena (nice neutral site) clock operator dozed off in the closing seconds, stuff like this happens. It's inevitable as long as multiple people are involved in signaling and starting the clock, and even if the ref on the floor could actually start the clock there would still be a reaction time lag -- bottom line is that 1.9 seconds will almost always last longer than that.
I hate it, but the Shocks had their chances, even at the end -- they just came up one play short. What's frustrating is that Creighton always seems to be the beneficiary of these questionable last second situations, and usually in years when they need to win to feel better about their NCAA chances. But their time is coming to an end, so let their student jerks enjoy it while they can -- and then adopt our other poster's suggestion of sterilizing them to prevent the passage of such subhuman behavior to another generation.

but the Shocks had their chances
I'm just saying that "the shocks had their chances" isn't quite right. We were blown out, and I still don't get how we had a lead with 1.9 to go.

Coach was miserable after the game, though he did an admirable job of keeping it together. As for the players they did much much better than I would have thought. Each of them were in what appeared to be a pleasant mood considering the result (screw job.. even if it wasn't I just can't stand CU). At the hotel they were gracious with their time and open to conversation with fans. I thought it was pretty impressive how they carried themselves.
Most of all I am proud of the effort not only for bringing us back from the dead but for making CU piss down their leg in fear. Things are going to change... the future of the program is bright.
