why does everyone feel that Cleveland St got screwed? Forget RPI's..they aren't playing for an at large bid right now regardless IMHO. They could play the 330 ranked RPI team and it wouldn't hurt OR help their chances...they don't have a chance anyway. Which is one of the prime reasons this event has become very VERY watered down.

The fact is the 3rd or 4th best team in the Horizon is right on par with the 8th place team in the Valley. I'm sure it's a fact that stings that league to no end. But, it is a fact.
      Deuces Valley.
      ... No really, deuces.

LOL didn't think of it that way. Yeah that one has to hurt if you put it that way!

Of course they aren't a powerhouse, but they should get to play someone better than us, our record sucks, our RPI sucks, we just plain suck! Just when we start to prove that maybe we don't suck, we go and get blown out by a 110+ RPI team.

They are going to get a "little" surprise when they find themselves in one of the loudest arenas in the nation. If you think this coach feels slighted now, wait until after the game when his ears are ringing. Then again, this could be the greatest experience of their entire lives. Let's hope it's not.

George Mason used their inspirational win over us to finish out a VERY strong season. Now they are back to nothingness... Koch arena has done some mighty terrific things to our opponents over the years...

I'm paraphrasing from memory, because he erased the status, and currently has a status update of "and no im not talking about my Coaching staff we the best."

The CSU coach did about the worst thing he could have done. He gave a team that has momentum, and is hungry to prove itself, a bag full of ammo. Guaranteed he doesn't know whats coming to him when they step foot inside the chuck.
either that or Ramon is a shockernet regular :)
My bet is he's referring to Valley coaches, he probably couldn't care less or has probably not even heard the CSU coaches comments which are not disrespectful to WSU at all.

I have to agree with the Cleveland State coach, they got hosed. If the situation had been reversed, this thread with already be at 30 pages. Anyone who thinks he is crying and complaining just to complain, is blind. They have to come in and play the hottest 150+ RPI team in the country in the most packed 150+ RPI arena in the country...they got screwed PERIOD!
Maybe they did get screwed, but the Coach prolly shouldnt make it so public

If we got screwed like this, we'd all be happy to hear Marshall agree with us and say it's BS.

As to what Cold said, I don't think they are in for a surprise. They'll be watching game tape from our televised games where our team was playing good in a packed house. Hopefully the fans bring the noise they they did those games.

Those video tapes will pale in comparison to what they will actually experience. Game tapes do not come close to replicating the noise. Koch just has another level of sound that one can only experience when one is in the arena.

Sure they will know that they are coming to a noisy environment, but they will have no idea what that is until they experience it. I'm fully expecting a bench full of wide-eyed opponents.

Now, how they adjust is a whole other issue...

ShockerFever - In case you haven't looked at the standings lately, the 8th place team in the Valley over the last 5 games has also been as good as many of the top teams in the Valley as well.

                      :yahoo: :wsu_posters: :yahoo:

From a conference RPI standing, I don't believe there's much difference in the two conferences this year. The Valley is down this year.

By the way, I feel the CSU coach "opened mouth and inserted foot". It'll be the Shox's job to make him chew on it!!

Average of 11.6 wins per season. Not exactly the juggernaut that coach makes them out to be.
"Average" probably isnt the best statistic to use with those numbers. The 19 and 21win seasons would skew the accuracy of the measurement. Median is probably more representative

                        21, 19, 12, 10, 10, 9, 8, 4. That gives 10 wins per season

So, based on that....they're up a little this season
was it really neccessary to show that the median is 10? and use it instead of the average? 1.6 wins still shows that they are generally a below average team. I just dont think much was proved.

They could play UNC and it won't matter. They are NOT getting an at large and to act like it is a possibility makes one question the coaches synaptic activity.

That coach is right, this game does not help them one bit. No TV, a win won't increase their RPI, a loss will hurt them. I guess the only positive for them is that they gain road experience in a hostile environment.
Agree, but it was still stupid of the coach to say that. If he loses, it will be all that more depressing to his team to get punked by a team with our RPI.

No doubt the Shox will be ready lay a whoopin on them.

                                Yes it was necessary

We can round 11.6 up to 12 for the ease of conversation.
Compared to their current number of wins (15 IIRC), a median of 10 tells a different story than an average of 12. Using the median provides a greater understanding to the magnitude of how much better of a season they are having this year.

3 more wins than their average = not as significant
5 wins more than the median + more season still to go = more significant
That rug really tied the room together.
