Steele
Steele, you're far too sensible for this thread -- maybe even this board altogether -- suggesting that we stay on topic.
But anyway, back to the original question, considering the way Evansville played WSU here and how tough they seem to have become defensively in general, I'd be happily amazed if WSU can beat them at their place. I'd be quite satisfied with 8-10 in the league at this point and very pleased with 9-9, either of which might be good enough to finish 6th and create a first-round matchup with probably either Bradley of IlSt.
Actually, even 7th plus a first round win -- never a gimme, as we know all too well -- would probably produce a similar matchup (either Bradley or IlSt in the second round); it just would reduce the possibility of a surprise run to the title because of the challenge of playing the extra game. But inasmuch as I'm honestly not expecting the Shocks to come roaring out of the second division to a tournament championship this year anyway, I wouldn't mind that much seeing them get a chance to pick up the extra win.
Next year will be a different story -- the second division should be a thing of the past.
