With young teams one of the last places you see improvement is on the road. Indiana State is a huge game. That's one of the young Shockers best chances this year to get a road win. That would really help their confidence.

            Moses?

I'm flattered but I don't wish to be compared to biblical figures.
            Thanks!

                Hmmm...

The real question: are Fever and KC related? Their predictions (KC with Creighton whipping WSU here by 24; Fever with his live doom and gloom on the Drake game) are equally acute, and both claim that they love to be proven wrong.

For that matter, has anyone ever seen the two of them at the same time?

I do believe Fever has overtaken me as Shockernet's 'public enemy number 1'. I'm fine with that. Really folks, if this board consisted of nothing but Shocker Homers it would no doubt be the dullest board in the country. Variety is a good thing. Give Fever and myself a break.

You want me on this board, you need me on this board!

Discuss away. Let's forget Indiana State and just concentrate on EU. We can look as cool as the Bradley fans overlooking us for Illinois State.

                    Fire away!
See here is the thing...what effect does us discussing any team or scenario we WANT to discuss have on the team and what will or won't happen? That's stupid. If your take is you want to only look at the next game then that is fine, but if others want to talk about other upcoming opponents then what does that matter? Telling people to only focus one game at a time on a fan message board is silly. And it happens on every board, but I just never understood why...that's all.
Common guys! One game at a time is how a team approaches it, and they should. But, a fans approach does not effect the team one bit. There is no doubt our coaching staff goes one game at a time. What I write on here or any of us for that matter. Won't help our team win one game, and those who tell other fans to only look at one game at a time, is just silly. A fan overlooking a game is fine, as long as our team doesn't (and won't) take the same approach, don't put someone down for doing so.

                    Now let's go beat ISU-Blue!

Beating ISU at their place won't be easy.
As usual, I'll be there. And hopefully, it won't be a repeat of last years debacle. I hope to never witness anything like it again.
For those who never been, Hulman is not a bad place. It's getting a bit older, but they have done a good job of keeping it up.
It will be like a mausoleum though. They will be lucky to get 3K to show up for a mid-week game on a cold February night.
Rest assured, of those who do show, there will be the usual assortment of drunken hillbillies on parole from the local trailer park. If you ever wondered where Matt Groening got his inspiration for Cletus the Slack-jawed Yokel, the mystery has been solved. 8)
Above all, make the right call.

OK, back to the reason this thread exists.

Here's how I see WSU making their way into 6th place (or better).

                        - First, they will have to defend the home floor against Missouri State and Indiana State.
                        - I think 8-10 puts us in a decent position (with help) to get out of the play-in round, and 9-9 almost guarantees it. So that means we have to win 2-3 more games.

                        Here's the other games
                        @ Indiana State
                        @ Evansville
                        UNI
                        @ ISUred
                        @ SIU

While I think the ISUblue game presents the best opportunity for our team to get a road win, I don't think it's as big as everyone else makes it out to be, as far as getting into 6th place. If we lost to ISUblue but beat E-ville and SIU on the road, that would pull down the two teams we are trying to pass, while getting us the two wins we are looking for. It will be very difficult to beat ISUred on the road, so I don't see that happening. But the way we get to .500 is most likely by beating UNI at home.

Our best chance for 3 more wins is...
                        - Beat ISUblue (it's most likely, but maybe not best to get 6th place)
                        - Beat E-ville or SIU on road
                        - Beat UNI at home
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.
