WSU played Illinois in South Padre. That same year WSU played Michigan State in what I think was officially a "neutral court" in Auburn Hills at The Palace, as part of Michigan State's annual "Spartan Clash."

And then of course WSU also played Michigan State in Orlando this year.

Please Homers, don't resort back in predicting Shocker wins 99 percent of the time. On a positive note, I am encouraged by how well we played against CU and hope we do build upon the win.

As USUAL the facts escape you. The predictions run about 60% in favor of WSU....that's hardly everyone and not out of line for a team playing at home and only a 2 point dog.

And against a team whose statement win is a home win over Creighton.

They both tried to buy their way out of the return game as well... and the AD denied the request...
This is absolutely correct. It's not just Jank, it's our AD that has this philosophy, and they are very stern about it. The do not want to play gurantee games, or even 2 for 1's. I've said many times that I respect that stance, but I don't agree with it. We won't get any big boys at Redbird Arena unless we get a 2 for 1 or some other deal. Even Cincy tried like hell to buy us out of the return game last year, but we refused.

Also, as I've said on VT and some other boards, most of our sched was already set from last year. We decided to host a tourney and jump in another one at SMU specifically for their format (3 games in 3 days) to prep for St. Louis. I wish the competition would've been better of course, but what can you do. Other games (UIC, Bowling Green, Wright St) were to finish series' from last year. The 2 other games we scheduled were Central Michigan and Morehead St. We got both those games very, very late and by then there was virtually nobody to play. Morehead St was a 1-off, but CMU is returning the game to our place next year. I'm not defending or justifying our schedule by ANY means, but we did the only thing we could've done with it---win the games.
I am a diehard Illinois State Redbird fan first, and an MVC supporter, diplomat, and ambassador of good will second.
