It's that 'we're not going to lose, no matter what' attitude that they can bring to the court. I noticed Hatch's effort and Ellis's effort especially.

I loved the way Hatch played this weekend. Like I told mvc champs afterwards, I don't care if Hatch scores as long as he continues to bust his butt like he was. The other players are going to feed off of that kind of effort. Points are a bonus.

Now, if he stops playing like that I'll expect him to put up more points. However, I think his offensive game picked up from him being more aggressive on the court.

I would bet Ramon took particular notice at the play where Hatch went to the floor to chase a loose ball. The ball squirted into the corner what it was probably a foregone conclusion that a Bluejay would recover it. As his teammates trotted back to play defense Hatch, on all fours, scrambled after it and lunged. He nearly got there in time to knock the ball out of the Creighton player's hands as he grabbed it.

When Hatch finds his shot and learns how to use his newly discovered athleticism to get himself open, he'll be a great weapon off the bench.

I'd like to see Marshall put a play/wrinkle into the offense (if he hasn't already), where Hatch can sneak into the weak-side corner and camp until the ball gets quickly reversed to him for an open 3.

You may be right, Sub, as to what Ramon was referring to (i.e., effort vs. playing hard); however, I don't agree with your statement that "for the most part they all play hard" -- unless, of course, you were referring specifically to the CU game. In that game, I will give them that. But I can name several recent games (UNI, SIU, MSU) that the "playing hard" wasn't there. I will make a caveat to that statement -- they didn't play hard for 40 minutes. Maybe one half, but not the whole game. You can't win a game if you don't play a [whole] game. Winning one half doesn't get it. I hope that message came through loud and clear to them. And I'm sure they have discovered that it's so much more fun to win than lose(especially the way we have been losing).

Here's to Wednesday night. All I want is a good, hard fought, clean game, and if we can pull out a win, so much the better.

With the exception of the second half of UNI and the MSU game they've played hard. They haven't played smart all the time, but effort has been there for the most part.

Coach Grant said that Hatch works harder than any other player in practice and putting in time after practice to work on his game.

There wasn't a lot of time for DK to play against CU. Hawkins had 29 minutes and Hatch had 19 minutes, plus you have the time Murry spent at the two and there is many minutes left over for Kyles to spend at the two or three.

For the entire season, Hatch is one of five players that WSU has scored more than the opponent when each has been on the floor. Hatch has the highest +/- score per minute played and the second highest gross +/- score; Hannah has +32 to Hatch's +26. Hatch is the ONLY player to register a plus score in games WSU has lost.

Tim J refuses to play anybody in the non-con unless they play them at their place? This dude still thinks he's at KU. LOL, your a mid-major clown, you got to make some concessions and beef up your 200+RPI non-con SOS.

Playing their schedule, we would look intimidating schedule wise also. I don't see any Michigan St, G-Town, Texas Tech's, or TCU's on their schedule.

I do see Wright State, Alabama State, Houston Baptist, Southern Methodist, Nicholls State, UC Santa Barbara, Bowling Green, Morehead State, Central Michigan, and Illinois-Chicago.

Never mind...Illinois-Chicago is 7th in the Horizon League, and Southern Methodist is in 10th in C-USA. C-USA sent a team to the national championship game last year. I guess he is from the Bill Snyder school of scheduling.
