Box score for the Missouri State Bears vs. Wichita State Shockers NCAAM game from January 14, 2009 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.
Now this is down right ugly.
I keep harping on this, but I don't care. I will keep harping on it.
When the combo of fouls plus turnovers is > 30, it is hard to win a game. The Shockers' combo was 42. The Bars' combo was 25.
Is there any chance that our coach is really Coach Jane Albright in disguise?
The starters scored 19 points! 19 points! Murry had 16 of them! So much for balanced scoring.
Three starters had more turnovers than points.
Stutz played 15 minutes and fouled out.
Aaron is a turnover machine. Four in 20 minutes. I have an idea, on defense, let Aaron play the 5. Sorry, I lost my head."Prediction is very difficult, especially if it is about the future."

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Wow..
Did some of you really think we were better than a 9th place team this year? "Shocker Fever"
The answer would be "Yes"---and you were one of them on DEC 4th.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Illinois State
2. Creighton
3. Southern Illinois
4. Drake
5. Evansville
6. Wichita State
7. Bradley
8. Missouri State
9. Northern Iowa
10. Indiana State
Then shortly thereafter in December, look below at your next comments.
Some of you predicting 3rd-6th finishes, I'd argue, don't know basketball.."ShockerFever" ------
You disqualified yourself there SF? You did originally say 6th in early December? So later in Dec. you did not like that prediction so you changed it to 8th before the Valley race. No problem. However, did you not know basketball in early December when you said 6th---but now like to rub it in most every post about others who orginally predicted 4th on the same thread called "MVC 3 weeks in" on page 6? Hmmmm! We are now in last place and have not won a Valley game. Thus, who knew this would happen? Did you? Maybe now with such vast hindsight, you could also now pick us 9th or 10th? You seem to really know basketball after the fact? Hmmmmm!!!Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

FSF,
So what about the 9th place finish? Being wrong about where the Shocks might finish is one thing.
Getting smoked by the team picked behind you is another.
Being young, blah blah blah - Who cares? Our program should be in a position to recruit the kind of players that don't finish 9th regardless of youth. There are lots of teams with youth in the MVC.
And teams like UNI have lots coaches too.
FSF, what exactly are you defending here?
-ohfer in the MVC

I was amazed at how little effort I saw last night from the majority of players. It was brutal and absolutely unacceptable. It's one thing to lose. But to lose while not trying is BS.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan
RIP Guy Always A Shocker
Carpenter Place - A blessing to many young girls/women
ICT S.O.S - Great local cause fighting against human trafficking
Wartick Insurance Agency - Saved me money with more coverage.
Save Shocker Sports - A rallying cry

The hardest thing for a FANATIC to do is accept reality. Well I think its time I accept it. I had to watch the game last night on the MSU website and dished $10. I think it would be in my best interest to send my receipt in to the basketball office and see if I could get it expensed. Anyway last night the msu play by play guys commented on our lack of team speed. It was apparent last night that they forgot to take the lead out of our shoes. As a FANATIC i am hoping this is an 6 game skid. Six effin games. Anyway thank god JC brought some good news yesterday. Maybe he will bring some Divine guidance to practice when he arrives afterall he is J C also known asWell, um, actually a pretty nice little Saturday, we're going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, and Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time.

I don't know why we just don't make some of you the Head Coach. Marshall's first full year and you're ready to run him out of town.
Do we stink right now? Absolutely! Everyone involved with the program, coaches, players, fans (diehards and bandwagoners, optimists and shockerfever types) all need to find ways to improve their roles and build up each other.
This team is playing with zero confidence and desire right now. So let's kick them when their down and hope that by continually kicking them and telling them how pathetic they are that they will somehow get better.
Help is on the way. The freshman class has shown promise, next years class looks to be promising as well, EO and Blair are on the horizon, and each game we lose will just make the wins taste that much sweeter when they come.
Losers quit or whine about how bad things are. Winners get up, even when things are bad and keep fighting and try to build up what they have to work with, rather than tear down what little is there. Patience, Patience, Patience. The sweet taste of victory will return, and the Roundhouse will be rockin again.

The guy gets paid $750k to do the job better than this. That's the complaint from some folks, and I can't blame them. Do they have to be the next head coach to complain?

You're winner vs loser analogy is why this is such a hot topic
There has been 10000+ at Koch Arena every game this season. The same can be said for last season. As fans and community supporters our support is steadfast.
Can this team compete with Georgetown or Mich. St. Today? The team has lost 6 straight and didn't compete against Missouri State for last place.
A win against Creighton followed by a string of victories will demonstrate your winning spirit. There has bee a lot of "go get em next time" support and next times are getting worse.
If there wasn't belief I this program in the 1st place things would be a quieter around here.Phi Alpha
