Hey RickyBobby, thanks for playing into the stereotype that all WSU fans are white trash NASCAR fans. Keep up the good work bro.
Most have said they'd like to see the game but nobody is whinning about them not playing. The reasons have made for interesting topics. Unconfirmed rumors about not being treated like royalty and whatnot. Most of us really don't care but some newbie or non fan always brings it up. This thread would have died long ago if it weren't for a couple of KU fans who keep complaining.
And insulting Ricky Bobby doesn't do you much good. Feel free to leave now. Since you don't like us anyway.
This thread is prime example of why I hate this board. Too many freaking retards post here.
And yet, here you are posting with the retards and doing a great job of establishing your own retardedness when you follow up your rants with a knock on someone's username. Welcome to junior high.

Smack away, Shocker fans... but there are quite a few of us who bleed crimson and blue who also want WSU to do well, too.
When you figure in Williams Fund donations required to buy season tickets, KU home basketball games with TV revenues net the AD nearly a million dollars a pop. That is why the in-state division II schools are invited to Lawrence, but a return engagement is not included. It is also why KU will only play nationally televised games against tradtional powers on the road (i.e. Arizona, Michigan State).
It is not that WSU is not worthy. It is that we are trying to compete with conference members who have outrageous athletic budgets in a multitude of sports - since you don't have that issue, I don't expect you to understand.
And since I grew up in Wichita, I also understand why some of you irrationally hate KU. No sweat off my back, hate yourself happy if you can while we enjoy the ride.

I see what you're saying here and I think the points are good, but I don't completely buy the financial aspect. Yeah, KU might lose some TV dollars, but nobody is saying replace UCLA with WSU. A home-and-home with WSU would be two games out of 60 regular season contests over two seasons of KU basketball. Of course we (KU) continue to schedule bigtime games, and certainly we need our cupcake games. Every team does. But I think we could schedule WSU and be okay financially. I could argue that the added PR it would give our alumni base in Wichita would be more than enough to compensate for any lost revenue.
Among the reasons it doesn't happen (not a good game for either team, KU's lost revenue, KU's potential disaster of losing to WSU, etc.) the last one is the one that's playing the largest part. But that is simply my opinion.
It does make more sense to play big road games in Boston (BC), Atlanta (Ga Tech), Detroit (Mich. St.), Los Angeles (USC/UCLA), Chicago (DePaul), etc. It makes no difference in the end, because it won't happen, but among civil folks it always makes for a spirited debate.
Jesus, you people are delusional. We are so insignificant on the national scale right now it's not even funny. We're on a four game losing streak against conference teams and you turds are whining about playing KU?
Why should they play us right now? What in the world can we offer them? Hell, we should be AVOIDING games against both KU and K-State, at least until we stop sucking so hard. This thread is prime example of why I hate this board. Too many freaking retards post here.
So what about a couple years ago. We make a name of ourselves on the national scale and it still doesn't happen. (Rumor had it though that WSU and KU were set to meet in Lawrence for a one-game deal on a major national television station, but somebody decided to turn it down.. )
I can't believe you put K-State in the same sentence as KU. You must be very ignorant.
Speaking of retards posting here.. Hi.. how ya doinnn.
Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

Every year this topic is revived and every year WSU and KU fans taunt each other. We call them cowards, they call us small and insignifigant. We say typical BCS bias and sense of entitlement, they say don't be jealous.
When will the madness end? I check out phog.net and 'beatmu' is very respectable toward WSU, I've seen topics created by beatmu praising WSU whether in baseball or basketball. 'Indy' has been very respectful on our board. I like these guys. Of course, you have the fanatical homers on each side that keep the fire burning.
These are the same WSU fans who come out of the woodwork and post on phog.net that we are the best team in the state of Kansas during our S16 run and 8-0 start the following season. Stupid bandwagon WSU fans who create dumb t-shirts that say 'Self-Explanatory' or whatever dumb idea it was. Where are they now?
I would like to see the Administrators delete any future topics about the reason why WSU and KU don't play each other. It is never going to happen and to keep discussing the why and why nots is futile. Lets talk about the reason why we suck so bad instead of why KU and WSU don't play each other.
I don't know how long some of you have been around Shocker basketball, but we've been around this mountain before. When WSU beat KU in the 'battle of New Orleans' the programs were on pretty even ground for a few years, and WSU got their chance to play KU. The series became very lopsided; the series was stopped, mercifully, and we all got along for awhile. Turg takes a team to the Sweet 16, and all of a sudden we're back to square one.
Truthlfully, most of us would rather see WSU on the schedule than Albany or whoever that was we played a couple of weeks ago. The problem, as I stated earlier, is that we're now in a spiraling financial battle to keep moving ahead with our football program, and support chickball and all that, and we need every dime we can get out of the basketball program, which is one of the most amazing cash cows going. Playing a one and done with Albany nets a big chunk of change for ol' Lew. A home and home with Wichita or any other mid-major out there doesn't give KU the financial payday we need.
Is it morally wrong for KU to tell Wichita it's play in Lawrence or nada? You can think so if you want, but as long as we're in a conference with athletic budgets nearing $100 Million, it ain't gonna happen.
Now, somebody... anybody... give me some hope that the Shocks are gonna get off the schneid soon. Let's go Shocks!

At Ballard’s Sporting Goods in Aggieville, this season’s popular purple T-Shirt with the “Welcome to Huggieville” greeting had already been replaced with a newer line known as “Welcome to Traitorville.” “Welcome Back to Loserville” might be a more appropriate selection. - msnbc 4/7/07
