  • I'm glad to know at least one solid non-bandwagon KU fan thinks enough about WSU to have a day-long postfest with us on our site.
    Deuces Valley.
    ... No really, deuces.

      Just keeping things factual.
Really? I swear I thought it was after the S16 reason.
Regardless, WSU's stock was rising at the time.
Yes, it was the S16 season and not the season immediately following.

The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

      • I'm waiting for the new chap who started this thread to begin another one asking about WSU football.

        • I'm in agreement with the poster who said I would rather see Tulsa on the schedule on a regular basis than KU.

KU football fans now that is a different story, lots of bandwagon jumpers there.
So, the bandwagon KU fans we've been seeing are football and not basketball? Thanks for clearing that up.
KU has almost always sold out their home games in basketball for a couple of decades, they travel as well as any team in the country to NCAA tourney sites or other tournaments like the Maui and the one we played in in Vegas a couple of years ago.

The idea that KU basketball fans are people who just jumped on the bandwagon because of last year doesn't really make a lot of sense. I understand your desire to hate KU but that just isn't a rational criticism.

                • I know. I agreed with you. The bandwagon fans were the football fans, not the basketball. Thanks for clearing it up again.

                  • So why won't Tulsa play WSU? Are they skeered of the Shockers, too?
At Ballard’s Sporting Goods in Aggieville, this season’s popular purple T-Shirt with the “Welcome to Huggieville” greeting had already been replaced with a newer line known as “Welcome to Traitorville.” “Welcome Back to Loserville” might be a more appropriate selection. - msnbc 4/7/07

Not scared? Jim Boeheim, Tom Izzo

Maybe some of that toughness will rub off on us since we play both of those guys this year, Izzo at the Breslin Center.

This is just opinion, but I believe the reason why ORU and Tulsa do not play us is that we fight for the same recruits. WSU is in the unenviable position of being located smack dab in the middle of Big 12 country. The recruits that do not go to the Big 12 or nearby Arkansas are then squabbled over by us, Tulsa, ORU, and UMKC to name a few.

Should Tulsa and ORU begin a series with us and we start to whoop that butt on a consistent basis, this might benefit WSU in the recruiting process. Again, just my opinion.

Disappointing to think you'd throw away the history between you and a rival just over potential recruiting.

So who do you consider to be WSU's biggest rival now? Missouri State?

                            • There hasn't been anyone to truly replace Tulsa, especially from the times where both were ranked in the Top 20 polls, played twice a season and had All Americans on the rosters.

                              Maybe the closest is Creighton.

                              • It would be fun to play KU, K-State, and Tulsa every single Season in a few years when HCGM gets this team turned around. It would be great for the fans. However, I am not expecting this opportunity at all. Even if most of the fans from each school wanted the same, it still won't likely happen. Maybe in a few years, by the luck of the draw, we can play one of them at the Dance.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.
