WSU vs. NAU - Pre-game discussion and predictions

Some NAU roster notes:

- Gabe Rogers, who appears to be redshirting - was a high school teammate of Toure Murry.

- Jermaine Calvin is a transfer from St. Bonaventure, where he transferred from Utah. He's a 5th-year senior, having only played two seasons and sitting out two seasons.

- Eric Platt, transfer from Wyoming. Played against us two seasons ago (Scored 3 pts in 18 minutes).

In terms of minutes played, it looks like their post players go 6-8, 6-8, 6-7. Top four scorers are three guards and a 6-6 forward. It will be interesting to see if we can have a good inside game.

The Lumberjacks appear to shoot the ball fairly well. Their lowest FG% on the year is 42% - against Arizona. On the other end they've allowed three opponents to shoot better than 54%.

Except for one game, they've held their own on the boards.

Hopefully, we make sure a couple of guys don't go off on us like they did last year in Flagstaff.

Last year Josh Wilson had 25 points and Kyle Landry had 22 points. They combined for 15 - 22 from the floor and 13 - 14 from the line, including 4 of 5 three-balls by Wilson.

Landry is gone this year. Wilson is back as a senior and is averaging just under 10 points while shooting only 6 - 26 (23.1%). NAU is shooting 32.7% from behind the arc as a team.

Overall the Lumberjacks are shooting a very respectable 47.2% from the field, but a very less than respectable 56.9% from the line.

They play at Stanford on Wednesday before heading to Wichita.

This is a game the Shocks should win. A loss to NAU this year would be a very bad loss. Of course, I suppose that's what I was thinking last year also. IIRC, the Shocks played very poorly in the loss in Flagstaff.

I would love the Shocks to put together two very solid halves on both ends of the court and take care of business as it should be. Finals will be behind them, so they should be in a good state of mind.
