"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!
To me the offensive struggles are eerily similar as is the inexplicable disrespect of a Marshall coached team by whomever is refereeing. Smithson's players couldn't get five feet from someone without a foul being called, and Marshall's players have to have a compound fracture before the whistle is blown.
Marshall doesn't have the blueblood coaching pedigree Turgeon had, hence, the lack of respect, similar to Randy.

1/16/2010 on the "Screw at the Q" HCGM... " Ive never seen a foul parade like that...If you would of let me know it was going to be a foul parade I would of brought a different team" .... "dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"
-No offensive chemistry
-No respect from the refs
-Overmatched and overscheduled
-Players constantly in the doghouse

the big joke that was going around in my shocker circles was:
Ron Prince, Randy Smithson, Gregg Marshall. What do these three have in common?
None know much about basketball.
Probably not very accurate or fair, but shows the frustration that some shocker fans are starting to feel because right now there does not seem to be any progress, even an illusion of progress.
The shocker fans who feel this way are either idiots or haven't been around D1 athletics very long. Strong teams don't just appear overnight. My hat is off to HCGM and his staff for being able to recruit the quality of athletes they have. I'm not a great one for patience myself but this is one sport that takes patience in waiting for these kids to figure it all out, and there is a load of stuff to figure out. One thing about HCGM's background is for sure - he knows how to build a consistent winner. As far as this year has gone so far, I can't believe we've hung in there with some of the teams we have played against.
