We've faced 2 of the toughest defenses we will face ALL year...yes even including SIU....so let's give Georgetown and Michigan St a LITTLE credit for how our offense looked. We couldn't BREATHE without them being there.
    Thank you Cold.

We didn't even attempt to go inside. The Juco ball has been an issue in a lot of the games. The UMKC game for example. Also, the Siena game to some extent. The only difference is in the Siena game, the shots fell in in the second half.

G-Town's defense looked awesome after giving up 90 to Tennessee..
sigh...you've officially pissed me off LOL. Oh well...gratz for bringing down the board.....
And you're a blind homer fan. I know the type. You're seeing things in an unrealistic way. I accept that. Most fans do.

God, I seriously hope you weren't the moontz tool in the MSU video chatlog.
Nope, I'm very realistic and know what I am seeing....you don't. You are so pessimistic it makes me sick LOL. I'm not saying this Shocker team is going to walk through the valley...that is what a homer would be saying. We are still in for a long year and unfortunately we will have to read your BS on the multiple bad losses we can likely still endure.

But I know what I'm seeing from this Wichita St team and it's better than I expected. No we aren't and won't be world beaters and there are still growing pains. But I have seen enough that I feel we might get 2-3 more wins than I anticipated....and I didn't anticipate many wins at all.

    :good: :good: :goshocks: :posterwu: :posterwsu:

I been around when Cheese played. Through Carr, Cliff and X, up til today. Something special is happening! This team has fight! Their skills will develop!

Keep the faith Shockerfan! :posterwu: 8)
Absolutely, I've been around the same although I was quite young back then, but I went to games and remember plenty about back then.

I agree, it's gonna happen and we are a LITTLE further ahead then I would have thought...which is nice. Still not better than a middle of pack Valley team...but DEFINATELY not 9th place team...not right now. And who knows...sky is the limit if this team keeps putting pieces together.

No answers to any of the offensive questions.

Just cheers about being better than 9th place.

Still a lot of season left..

        • Shockfever must have boiled over... Absolutely no perspective. Have you ever watched a big 10 game? They are absolutely ugly! That team grabs, hedges, and pushes with superior athletes for 40 minutes. Maryland helped Izzo wake his players up and it will be bad for 9 out of 10 teams that play them.

There may be no moral victories in your world, but from your point of view anything but a national championship for this team is a failure. The mission of this team is to set the table for the future. So far i can gladly say that all the pieces are there and a little more arrangement will go a long ways. (I think I just channeled Dave D)..

Also - it sometimes helps to play bad and good teams. Learning to win against weaker competition can be helpful (confidence one way or another makes a difference)

BTW - the defense played by the shockers save the foul trouble version was pretty good.

Enjoy the ride and know that we are going to be better than anyone really could have expected this year.

Again, I'm glad we didn't get blown out, but I also do not believe in moral victories.
Well you and 'Fever don't understand the game, and you don't have a grasp of where the program is....

You both want to run before you walk, and if we can't compete, scratch that, beat a top 20 team then we just suck.

Has it occured to either of you that our best chance for a victory came in a game where possessions were kept to a minimum? Do you think that happened by chance or design?

We have all but started from scratch a division 1 basketball team trying to compete in a top 10 conference....pardon me if I feel like we just might be a hair ahead of schedule.

Do we have some shortcomings? We sure do...are we a top 20 team? No....Are we on the right track? I think so.

My guess.....my knowledge > your knowledge.

A few of you just complain to draw attention to yourselves....people start bitching about our volleyball team losing in the conference tournaments....they were 29-1...how perfect do they have to be to get an attaboy (or attagirl) from you? If the Shocks would have won this tournament, a few out there would have said our uniforms looked lousy and wondered why we didn't have more options.

              • I just want your opinion on our offense thus far.

I never said it should be a Top 20, Top 50, or Top 100 type offense right now. I just want your thoughts.

Do you really think we were close to beating these teams based on our skills or the opponents' shortcomings.. ?

                • For those of you who obviously didn't watch the game...

...One of the reasons the Shocks didn't go inside much was - MSU had a guy there in defensive position. If you throw it in there the D was collapsing and there was a B10 post player pushing our post players away from the basket.

I guess the coaches are supposed to apologize that they can't find a Fr center who can out muscle B10 guys in the paint.

They could have passed inside, but there was going to be one guy contesting the shot and 2 others contesting possession of the ball. MSU's D was designed to deny the inside game. Give credit to MSU for executing.

Also give some credit to WSU for making opponents look bad. WSU is taking other teams out of their games and then mistakes pile up for the other team.

I can't believe WSU fans are piling on the team for losing to MSU by single digits. Simply unbelievable.

                    • Our offense will be up and down just like most people predicted before the year started. Some games our 3 point shooting will be great, some games we won't be able to buy a bucket. Same with our inside game. Hey, we just got a lot of great national exposure and were called the sleeper of the tournament. These expert types will be keeping an eye on WSU as the season progresses. We played 2 top 20 teams to single point deficits - were expected to get blown out - and have fans whining. This is ridiculous. The year Turgeon had his first full recruiting class we won 9 games. That group was the foundation to great achievements but also looked terrible many times during that first year. Stop the whining and enjoy growth of this team because WSU will be back.

And try not to sound like a Creighton fan coming here after we lose a game.

                        • Shockerfever:

What is it with you. Your question about our offensive showing has been answered. We played two teams in this tournament who are known for their defense. It was noted during the GU game that they allowed opponents to shoot over 35% only nine times last year. MSU has had similiar results. The only area that killed WSU today was rebounding. These teams are ranked in the top 20 for a reason.

                            • I haven't read the last few pages, but nobody should be whining. Gee, we did play two games against top ranked teams and probably much better than anyone else in the Valley. It's early in the season and we will improve. It had to be us to some extinct on why G town and M State didn't look good much of the time. Dan is correct. There is no doubt that Marshall is bringing the Shockers back.

I'm done. I'm done trying to be 'real'.

It was G-town's D and MSU's D and Siena's D that made us blow numerous and I mean numerous layups and throw passes into double-teams, and to shoot fallaway 3's with 2 seconds left on the shot clock.

Yep, it was all on them.
