    Another moral victory I guess.

If we would have executed well and lost, I would have been happy and impressed. As it is, we still have A LOT to work on offensively.

Hannah has shown he's at least a shooter.

I think we set a record for most times allowing the shot clock to run under 5.
No, be disappointed with the loss. There are no moral victories. But you can't deny that it's impressive the poise and confidence a team full of 1st year Div 1 players play with. This is not the norm...especially for a Valley team. That can carry a team a LONG ways...especially as they grow and develop. We'll be alright. Alot of those "under 5 on the shotclock" possessions in the 1st half resulted in a good shot at the basket. This team rarely gets out of control...notice I said RARELY...not NEVER.

    • If I woulda strictly just looked at our record and the scoreboard, I would have been impressed.

But having watched and listened to the games, all I can see is ugly and anemia.

I hope we get that straightened out in the next month before conference play opens up.
      Deuces Valley.
      ... No really, deuces.

      • Having no inside game on offense is killing this team. They Shox are playing decent D, but on the other end they are forced to jack up low percentage jump shots which is killing them. The Shox are getting beat at the foul line because we have no inside offense to draw enough fouls to put us at the line, unlike what other teams like GU and MSU did to us.

Again, I'm glad we didn't get blown out, but I also do not believe in moral victories.

The Valley this year is full of weak post players, just check all the other team message boards if you don't believe me. So unless that changes we won't see this kind of post players in the Valley...not even CLOSE.

Let's just say I'm more unimpressed with how the competition has played than how impressed WSU has played thus far

All things considered, of course I'm happy not have been blown out. Our D was ok, but everything else was icky. We played offense like a Juco team.

            • This game was very encouraging for me. We played some very talented and VERY big players today and gave them all they could handle.

There is no question that we grew up a ton over this tournament and have a good chance to be a force in the Valley if we can maintain the intensity.

The shots are going to start dropping for us. And no, we don't play UglyBallTM. A signature aspect of that style involves thuggary. I don't see our team as a bunch of thugs who go into the game trying to bring the quality of play down. We do want to score and I think we are improving which is a huge sigh of relief for me.

Great, so Stutz and Durly can play against weaker competition and not learn a damn thing and increase their skillset. I'd rather for them to get schooled on a daily basis, baptism by fire if you will, so they learn faster and improve their game.

                            • No denying the fight in this team. No doubt comes as a GM team trademark.
I think they have found a PG for the next two years. I was concerned about a JuCo leading this team, but CH is smooth and maintains composure. He has a calming effect on the rest of the team when things get dicey. He is definitely not your typical JuCo transfer.
Best comment of the game "I can't wait to get these guys back and work on things in practice." - GM
Have to believe Hawkins deal is a case of rust. He has all the talent but plays very soft and hesitant.
As said before, no way is this a 9th place team in The Valley. No way. 8)
