It's only one game - just wait until our new guys get the game figured out and our team gets some chemistry going. I have a feeling this is a fast learning group.

You wouldn't, except the so called fan was just a knock at not knowing it was the prized recruit from this signing period.

The other part just blurted out cause for some reason i picture you as very white (guess that would be pastie not pasty) and balled headed. Almost uncle fester looking. Not sure where I got this from but that is how I picture you.

Instead of pastie you might considering descriptors like glistening or brilliant when describing my physical characteristics. I'm not going to say this is me in the following photo, but it's so close that it could probably pass for a personal portrait in a dimly lit room.

And not to 2-5 or 3-5. More preferably 0-0.

I know they can shoot it....so can I, but you aren't going to see me fire one up in a game.
My wife and I talked about this at dinner. The 3 point shot from Stutz was right in front of us. You could see the gears grinding before he took the shot. His body language said "Well, I'm not sure about this shot. But Coach said if you are wide open, and *looks around* I am really, REALLY wide open, I should take the shot. Hmm... here goes nothing."

I get the idea. If he made that shot, and makes others like that, it completely changes how he is defended. Same for everyone else. If at any point one person can put up a 3, it opens up the inside like none other.

But in practice, I agree with the Dr. Pleased to not be taking those shots...
Your first graph describes Garrett and the situation perfectly. Just perfect.

      • Another problem with our post guys taking the 3 is that it severly hampers our rebounding ability. Coach said on the post game that there were a few instances where we didn't get the offensive rebound because JT was on his way out to take a pass on the perimeter. I don't know enough about our offense, but I'd rather have our big guys staying down low as much as possible.

        • One other note I just remembered about the game that I failed to mention. While I don't feel we attacked the press enough (although we didn't turn it over much either) I did feel we were pretty good at passing out of the traps. We never really got caught in a trap and I thought all our guys showed a great awareness when they saw the trap coming. Granted Florida A&M isn't the best team, but I felt that was a positive.

          • I have no problem with our bigs shooting 3's as long as they're open and not forcing the issue. Both JT and Stutz are capable of hitting a nice percentage from out there. And if they do it creates A LOT more space for everyone else to work.

              • Both Durley and Stutz can hit the 3 so we will continue to see them take it on occasion. I still will cringe every time they miss but I do that when anybody misses one.

I think the bigs have to hit 33% of their 3-pt attempts to be helpful. Any less than that, the opponents hsould let them shoot; any more will open up the lane for themselves and others.

I want to see 40% or better from the guards, however. Anything over that is really terrific.

                  • Both JT and Stutz will continue to have the 'green light' for an open 3. They can stroke it, so why not? If they were to miss, then Ramon will go get the rock and we will reset. Not many teams have 2 Centers that can consistantly shoot from this range. Therefore, this is going to continue.

                    • The problem is when you bang your body down low, like Garrett and Durley ought to be doing, it messes up your shot. It's tough to stroke a sweet 20 footer when you are beaten and bruised.

It's nice to know that J.T. and Garrett have pretty nice outside strokes but we don't need them to stroke it, we have bona fide shooting guards that can shoot. We need J.T. and Garrett to prowl the paint and put the hurt on opposing teams, not dingle around the arc looking for a shot.

J.T. is a big boy with a big ass, he needs to keep using that ass like a battering ram and clear the lane for himself and his teammates (that sounded weird). Stutz needs to add 45lbs and stop wearing deodorant and really make the post a bad place to be when he is on the floor.

                      • No reason not to be optimistic. The combo of Stutz, Ramon and Durley will rule in this one. Shocks 76-61.
