  • Marshall show questions

Two questions. First, did it happen last night and if so what was said?

Second, anyone else have trouble with the Shockerradio.com archive? When I try to download either the 11/11 HCGM show or the ESU game I get a warning message that says it is an incorrect file type or has been corrupted. And the files are garbled when I try to play them.

Just finished listening to it off the Shockerradio archives page - you get the intro, some dead air for a little bit and then the show. Nothing surprising in what was discussed. Marshall thought that Clemente, Hatch and Durley all played with good effort, not surprising as they were the 3 playing in this game that also played last year. After reviewing tape thought we only took 3 bad shots, happy with FG%...

Ok, thanks. Got it to work (for some reason it didn't play with Windows Media Player but worked with itunes).

As usual the coach had to answer the question about in-state scheduling. I don't know how he does it. I think I might lose it if I was asked as much as he was. Makes me think they must be casual fans and think its neat to call in to a radio show. You would think they would know the story by now.

I had a couple drinks with Turgeon the summer before his final season at WSU... Either myself or one of my friends ask a question involving KU and his response was he couldn't see KU ever scheduling us under any conditions. Apparently he had tried to put together deals with them on a couple different occasions but Self essentially said it will never happen. Of course at that time Self was a little bit on the hot seat and WSU was flying high.

Windows Media Player likes to claim it won't play streaming MP3 files. It actually will but tries to make it as hard as it can for you.

Microsoft doesn't want anyone using MP3.

The resistance to ever scheduling WSU again predates Self (and Turgeon). The last time they played was not a good time so I'm sure there are many at KU that would want to veto it. Keep in mind they had played often for several years before that game but afterwards they swore never again.

KU wouldn't schedule WSU even if it was a one-and-done in Lawrence on national TV and WSU didn't ask for a penny. I can see their side of the argument and there are a lot of legitimate reasons to never play that game from KU's perspective.

KSU is another matter. I don't know if they're still selling out their 13K arena by giving away 6K student tickets - or however many they have to give away to say they've filled the place. If KSU could sell an extra 3K - 5K tickets by playing WSU, then the economics might make sense for them to schedule WSU. KSU will never agree to a home-and-home with WSU, and WSU is scheduling home-and-homes with teams at KSU's level. KSU isn't attractive to WSU for scheduling.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

I'm not so sure the current reasons for that game not happening have much to do with it. There is much bad blood between the two programs but as I understand it that bad blood is at the administrative level more than anything. Roy Williams was completely incensed after the last game in Wichita but I'm sure it went much further up the organization. Having to refund all those season ticket holders money couldn't have made the athletic department too happy. I believe there were _many_ people who said "never again" after that last game (technically the second to last game because the played one more time in Lawrence the next year).

Don't care to play either one of them ever. If we win we have to listen to them whine about it. If we lose we have to just listen to them. Let them go their way and we go ours.

I have given much thought to this situation over many years and "never playing them again" is the best solution.

Coach asked us for a favor in standing till a real bucket was made. How about asking Don Hall for a favor? Announce that Kenny and Jerome are here so we can welcome them to shocker nation. If we do that for players that have not signed yet, think how that would impact them. Give em the loud Koch Arena thunder!!! = SOLD. Where do I sign coach GM!!! :yahoo:
