Thanks MVC. You save me some time. It is late and I am ready for bed. Ten o'clock is late for seniors. For you young whippersnappers, I realize the evening is just getting started.

    My comments are as follows:

    1. Kyles wore red shorts.

    2. Murry wore silver/gray shorts.

    3. Neither set the world on fire this day.

    4. With respect to E.O., the best thing that could happen is a redshirt. Very raw. Extra very raw.

    5. E.O. has a very nice frame. He will be an average to above average free throw shooter. His wingspan is 7-3. He has very long arms and very large hands. He smiles a lot. He seems comfortable and has a good attitude. If he plays this year, don't count on him for much offense.

    6. The star of the pick-up games is the guy in the maroon shorts. He is a guard. Nobody, including WSU folks, knew his name. This guy can play.

    7. I like Hannah and Chamberlain too. Our point guard problem is solved. Reggie is a fine shooter. At least he was this day.

    8. Two of the reasons Stutz did not look so great are fellows called Paul and EO. Stutz had a nice baseline drive that I liked a lot. He was stuffed by EO at the basket. The stuffing came with a mauling foul. Stutz has a temper. Most of the EO blocks of his shots came with body contact. On one occasion, Garrettt slammed the ball down and it must have bounced 25' in the air. It sorta reminded me of the time CC McFall kicked the ball up to row 33.

    9. Paul Miller was a man among boys. It is amazing how much his game has improved in 2.5 years. Also, he is Mr. Buff. He looks great.

    10. The games were so ragged, it was difficult for me to appreciate individual play. The exception was Maroon Shorts.

    11. The Shockers will be very athletic next season. Very athletic.

    12. Kyles will be able to shake any college defender. Well, most any defender. He has some very quick jukes and he gets the ball away fast. He has a jab left, back right move that is pretty effective.

    13. Coaches Marshall and Gross came over and visited with us. Coach Gross talked for quite awhile. Also Matt Braueur talked to us for a very long time. I could not help, but compare this coaching staff to the previous one, relative to being open, friendly and informative. It is like night and day. Change that to "it is like the darkest night and the brightest, sun shiny day."

I was reminded of the time, I extended my hand to introduce myself to Coach Prioleau at the Heskett Center. He looked at me, grunted some foreign sound and barely touched my hand, before turning away. It was a case of gross rudeness. Some might say he was an @$$h@le.

    14. Coach Marshall estimates that Stutz will play at 280 some day. Yes, he said 280. I am not sure about his current weight, but it seems like someone said he weighs 250. Just in case someone is living in the past, 280 is approaching Green Bay Packer down lineman territory.

    15. My companions were Cowboy, Deerslayer and Cold. You remember Cold, don't you? He holds the American record for message board banishments. (Just kidding, Cold.)

    16. It appears that Stutz is 1-2 inches taller than EO. We saw them walking side by side.

There might be some reader, who actually thinks I might know what I am talking about. If so, remember this. I am the one, who predicted that Tim Duncan would never make it in the NBA.

Last year Stutz was weighing at 225. I agree competely about this coaching staff compared to turgeon coaching staff. Alot times if you see Coach Marshall, he will have a nice long conversation with you. I cant say that about turgeon

So either GS is now 7' 2" or EO is only 6' 10"?

<mild laughter> Yes. Another possibility is 7-1 and 7-0. Or 7-0 and 6-11. Or similar.

Someone has said that Garrett's dad believes Garrett could grow to 7-2.

It may be that EO's height has been over stated.

Did anyone else notice there when EO dove for a loose ball and went into the first row? He kind of looked like he hurt himself for a minute and looked to limp around the next time down the floor but he laughed it off while he was sitting on the ground. He went into the corner chair and landed on the ground. But it looked like he would have been a normal person sitting in the chair straight up. I have to admit I kind of lost my breath for a second/heart skipped a beat or two. How horrible would it have been if EO got hurt playing in a pickup game only a few weeks after he gets here? Don't know if the guys have quite explained that we don't go balls to the walls in pickup games or not. But he did look like he got a good laugh out of it with Paul.

Today is kind of an unfair day to put much judgement on GS. When you have a Pro player, and a player that has as good of timing as EO already does, don't know many people that wouldn't have struggled as much as GS did.

Heres's the deal. FSF has seen Garrett play, but not today. From the words of SUB--- I'm NOT worried. Go ahead and pencil him in as a starter. Now I have seen all of our players except Toure play. Here is my opinion on an early starting line-up. The juco guards have been "lights out" shooters when I have witnessed them play. RC has emerged as a stud, a leader, a starter, and can still clean the glass with the best of them. AJ is solid at the small forward position but I think he may have a toe injury right now.

Last year, we lacked shooters, scorers, and quality depth. These weakness have been addressed. I am only projecting 17 wins---but 20 plus would not  me.

EO is raw right now offensively but ooozes with talents and abilities. However, he has a foundation that KR can take to task in the weight room and our Coaching Staff can assist his development quite quickly. Guess what? We will soon have our Twin Towers as projected it appears. How far back was it that this was happening here at 21st and Hillside? We have shooters, scorers, quality depth, but we are young with wholesale changes in personel. This will be a very fun year. The following Season----watch out!!!!!!!
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

                  :good:

I have a mancrush on EO.. I like him even more than Casey Crawford...

EO looks for the block, looks to get into passing lanes for the steal, and from reports of previous sightings is improving at a rapid pace.

For some reason EO was spending a lot of time shooting left-handed jumpers (from distance). Shots with his right hand were fairly smooth (drilled two 3-balls in a row and rimmed out the third). RDR is a stickler for freethrows but even he had to admit that EO drained a few very nice ones. Nothing herky/jerky/Shaquille Oneil'esque about his free throw stroke.

EO was shorter than Stutz but taller than Miller. Miller is a little over 6'10" with shoes (6'9.5" with socks).

EO was winded but kept running hard. Coach Gross thinks he has a bigger frame than Stutz so if HCGM thinks Stutz will play at 280 then one could easily spin the rumor that EO will eventually play at 320 and become the next Shaq! ;-)

EO is far from the beanpole that Butler was and Braeuer assured me that EO has an aggressive streak in him.

EO attempts to block everything that comes near him and altered probably 95% of the shots that came into the lane within his reach (which is very far btw). JT came down with a nifty little drive and tried to kiss it wayyyy off the top of the glass because he knew he would have been in trouble going straight in and his ball didn't even catch iron on the way down. Shooting percentages will go way down when EO is on the court. Hopefully freethrows wont make up the difference. As RDR said, EO will need to get ready for Valley refs, I can only hope that Valley refs are preparing for EO. The Valley refs could very likely be a significant factor on whether EO becomes a star or a player that sits most of the first half of every game.

Did I mention that I have a mancrush on EO?

Lots of friendly behavior on the floor. The only thing I saw that might have been labeled as unfriendly was when Ramon took it on himself to shut down P.J. and kind of sent him to the floor during a drive. P.J. didn't get up too quick and Ramon apologized. However Ramon did say while walking away, "hey, you didn't get the basket though"..

I massive amount of very fast 6 foot'ish guards running all over the place. I couldn't track of all of them. I was busy watching EO and daydreaming about the future...

Paraphrased quote of the day: HCGM said that his recent conversation with Billy Gillespie over Stutz's choice of Wichita State over Kentucky was expletive ridden. Not that he was angry with us or Stutz but that he wished he would have been able to sign Stutz after a more thorough analysis of his '08 recruiting class. He said he really could have used our big Kansas City boy of Black and Gold.

I have tons of pics. Perhaps I will share a few of them.

It's a great day to be a Shocker!

                  P.S.

                  I <3 E.O.

I agree with the statement about Kyles and Murray. Neither was phenomenal, but showed great potential. I like Kyles because he seemed quick with the ball in his hands. Murray was smooth. He ran the point well for his team but took some stupid shots sometimes. The maroon shorts guy is now a mystery. We might need to find out who he is.

I attended last nights games as well. Most of what I was going to say has already been said. Just a few comments.
                              1. The play of the day, IMHO was Durley's Block of Orukpe's about to be vicious dunk. EO got way up and was about to throw it down but was stuffed from Durley.
                              2. The maroon shorts guy's first name was also reggie. I think he may be a walk-on.
                              3. I also saw a dissappointing season flash through my head when EO went down diving after that loose ball. He seemed to be ok though. Had me very worried.
                              4. Jay Cous looked really good compared to what we saw of him in Evansville.
Shocker fan since December 28th, 2005!

I had heard that Felter from Dodge City Juco (I think) has been playing in the scrimmages. I think he is around 6'7" and may be a "walk on" possibility. He has a nice shot and played solid at the Juco ranks I was told. John Felter, his dad, was a Shocker back in the Fogler days. It seems like we have discussed this young man before, but I was unable to find a link. He seems to be a walk on candidate that could sit out a year and possibly make this team. I can't substantiate for sure this info yet, but he may be one of the players we have been hearing about that could actually walk-on.
