Loyalty and discretion seem to be rare commodities in our society anymore, as is witnessed by some ShockerNet posters, and apparently RM.
If he wants to be a closet ChickenHawk supporter, that's his business, I guess. But how he could show on the campus of the university which gave him a scholarship, in clothing, which advertises for another university, which WSU competes against, (and yes, they are our competition because we are competing for the same prize) is no different than showing up to work in clothing which advertises your employers competition; an act which could very well cost a person their job."Hank Iba decided he wouldn't play my team anymore. He told me that if he tried to get his team ready to play me, it would upset his team the rest of the season." Gene Johnson, WU Basketball coach, 1928-1933.

Personal Opinion Only: Ryan is a good guy. I personally think it is in BAD TASTE for anyone to wear KU garb to a WSU function, and moreso if that person is an alumni-player for WSU. I work with someone who is an avid KU fan, but just as much so a fan of WSU. They have sweatshirts, pullovers, hats, etc. from both schools. They would NEVER wear WSU gear to a KU function or KU gear to a WSU function. I like Ryan, but I think good taste and discretion is not part of his resume. If he was going to attend a WSU function, then go in street clothes rather than something that has KU on it, or don't go at all. I think it shows a total disrespect for both schools.
If he wanted to wear KU gear to an OU or OSU or T&M game, fine -- that's his choice and I see nothing wrong with it (except a disrespect for his alma mater). That being said, he is entitled to wear what he wants anywhere -- but if he chooses to wear KU "stuff" to a WSU function, he better be prepared for more censure.

I know the guy grew up in KC and as a KU fan. That's fine. I have no problem with him being a fan of and having clothing for the school. But I do agree that it was in poor taste to wear KU gear to a WSU event. It reflects badly on him and that's unfortunate. That doesn't take away from anything he did while here either. But to do so...Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

Let's put in this way. People in the work place that have done such deeds have been terminated on the spot and sent home. At a ballgame though, it is your choice what garb you wear. It all comes down to the choices we make in life. Many of them have a ripple effect. Some of them have causes and effects to those around us. When we reflect back in own life, some of the choices we each have made have been rip-snorters. Was it Aunt Gertrude or Socrates who said "you made you bed, so now you can waller in it baby!!!!!!!"Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Few have ripped him for his attire. Many have commented that they thought it was in poor taste to where it though. And I see nothing wrong with that. I don't think any of us would harrass him over it or fail to support Ryan and his future endeavors.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

I'm gonna go ahead and say that it was a little weird seeing RM decked in the KU gear. I walked right past him, knew it was him, but did a double take when I saw what he was wearing.
I'm also leaning on the side of the debate on it's ok to wear KU stuff and be supportive of them, just as long as it isn't at a WSU sporting event or involved with WSU period. That was pretty weird and a tad distasteful.
