  • Taking the GED required getting him out of Nigeria. That was the hang up last year.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

I don't know about rjl, but that is essentially what I heard say Marshall to Mike Kennedy on his show on Cox 22.

Does he still have to take the ACT then? Or does the GED satisfy the Clearinghouse? I really don't know about this process and am going off of what I've read here as I must have missed the Shocker Report that some of you seen.

          • I could be wrong on this, but from what I understand, if you do not graduate from a state-accredited high school, you have to get a certain score on the ACT to attend WSU -- It's either 17 or 18. This is new within the last 4-5 years, since I believe WSU had more of an open-admission policy before that.

            • Good point. I believe you have to score a 17 to play D1. At least I think that's what it was when I took it a few years back.

Yes, the GED qualifies him to take the ACT, which he needs to get in. Marshall wasn't specific, but noted that the new clearinghouse devoted solely to international students is very strict to cut down on fraud that had happened in the past. It sounded like there may be other bureaucratic steps that need to be taken in addition to the GED and ACT to get him cleared, but I can't say for sure.

                • They have implemented the sliding scale system. The sliding scale says the higher the GPA the lower the SAT/ACT or vice versa the lower the GPA the higher the SAT/ACT. That system is for all NCAA Div 1 schools.I don't know how that's gonna work in EO's favor. It wont be an issue if he score say 23 on the ACT or 1900 on the SAT.

23 on the ACT? I thought everyone got 28+ on the ACT. Everyone I know did. :D

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

                    • I haven't spent a lot of time researching but enough but to realize that having to go the GED route complicates matters and may take some time. What concerns me the most about EO becoming eligible this Fall is that the GED may be used under certain conditions (what the conditions are I don't know) to satisfy graduation requirements but not the core-course or test score requirements. Perhaps EO is not just at Sunrise to prepare for tests but to get core-course requirements taken care of.

                      • I don't know what everyone is so worried about. Players go to Kerry Rosenboom to get strong. EO has gone to Sunshine to get eligible. Hes here the next couple months are the easy part.

I pay attention to the news, and have a distinct ability to remember things from waaaay back as far as two weeks ago.

I know more from other sources, but don't think it'd be prudent to disclose it in a public forum.

                          • Paul S/. was on talk show this morning and his take for starting lineup would be Reggie and Hannah at guards, A. J. and Clemente at forward and Ellis at center with possibility of Stutz. Like Murry, however, hadn't seen anything out of Kyles when he was watching. From his tone of voice I still dont think Orupke will be playing this year. Just my thought.

I wouldn't read into that. Neither Paul nor anyone else will know if Orupke can play this year until his test results return.

                              • Ellis at Center makes no sense. He is not used to playing with his back to the basket, or the 5 position. Does Paul S think we have come all this way on Orukpe to not have him on the court? CGM is a 'get'r done' type coach, and I think Orukpe will be suited up when the season starts in October.

Just 4 months till the season starts .... Can't hardly wait! :yahoo:
