Ellis is going to keep getting better and I like his upside. However, I am not so sure he will be starting this coming season. Yes, he had the big game that shows he is very capable of becoming more consistant. I only wish that he could have had a redshirt year last season.. Now, we will throw him right in the mix and I think he will be ready.

I'm (rather perilously) basing my prediction on the rumor that Ramon was personally pushing Ellis, and that he was a better defender than JT last year. Of course, I know bupkis of what's really going on.

But it's fun to talk about nonetheless.

People talking about JT...he needs to keep his 3 pt happy ass in the paint he does not need to be the person taking the 4th most 3 pointers on the team while playing 15 minutes a game....shooting .271 from that range...and being one of the few players of size that we could have inside. If large people want to shoot threes either get really good at it in practice or go play in Europe. The lad needs to get a grasp quickly of what he offers and Dirk Nowitzki he is not.
Unleash Brett Burley, let all tremble before him!!!

          PG - Hannah
          SG - Chamberlain
          SF - Hawk
          PF - Clemnte
          C - Stutz

One of Hannah/Chamberlain will almost always be on the court. But you start both because of what they bring to the table.

          Hawk is a no brainer.

          Clemente....See Hawk

Stutz starts because of offense. I think that's how you start the game, then bring in the Defensive guy. But it could go either way.

First off the bench is Ellis and Orukpe. Then you got Murry and Kyles battling for the primary backup role. Then there's Griz. If Hawk goes out you can move Ellis to the 3 and put Griz at the 4.

Durley gets very little time until he can improve his D. Hatch will have to prove he can play and be smart. But the way he shoots he'll have a chance.

          I'm probably forgetting somebody again...

That is indeed a solid line-up to start the season by our new S.N. A.D SubGod22. With so many solid players, we could have more line-up changes than usual to better compete with our foes.

Bobby Knight was a big believer in also considering different lineup changes in the 2nd half as well, based on who is playing good that game. We will go 8-10 deep and solid this year. That is a great sign to turning those disappointing close losses we suffered through last year to wins.

I think the greatest part of next year's depth is that now players will have to EARN their positions rather than landing in them by default because the starters or veterans go down with injury. As HCGM has said numerous times--the bench is a great motivator, and maybe that 'threat' is exactly what will do guys like Durley a lot of good. It will force them to work on their game--if they want to have playing time, and after all, isn't that what all college players want?

I like Subgod's lineup, but I could see it being very interesting by mid-season, with the possibility of guys that could step up and win a role, OR, as certain matchups present themselves, players could be rotated in and out to make them have the best chance of success and exploiting the other team's weaknesses.

As is the case with any team I guess, I think our team will have the potential (some this year and a LOT in the future) to cause a lot of matchup problems to the other team just due to our skillset and size. This of course all depends on how hard these guys work and their level of buy-in to the TRUE 'Marshall Plan'.

I hope by mid season that it's extremely difficult to keep Murry or Kyles or both off the court. If just one of those two comes around this season we're in business.

Am I missing something? I thought Reggie was a pure PG.

Hopefully we'll determine the starters AND develop some quality back-ups, because we've needed both for a couple of seasons now.

There are a lot of 'ifs' right now, but it's hard not to be at least a little optimistic.

Reggie and Clevin are both PGs that make shots from the outside. Neither is very tall, but both can make with most any SG in the Valley.

Exactly. Both can shoot very well. Both handle the ball very well. Both play pretty good D. I just can't see one of the FR starting over either of them to begin the season.

The thing I'm liking about this year's team is the depth. Unlike last year, we have sufficient back-up players virtually for every position who can step in without much or any loss in case someone goes down.

How many times last year did we clank the ball too many times in wineable games? Now we will have players that can shoot, score, and finish. U like?

It will be interesting to see, but whether Kyles and Murry come off the bench, or whether one starts. Hannah and Reggie won't be playing 40 minutes, so I kind of view Hannah/Kyles starting with Reggie/Murry off the bench.

Or some combination like thereof. I think CGM would want to get them experience as soon as possible, and it makes more sense to me to pair each of the freshmen up with Hannah/Reggie on the floor too.

I wouldn't think that CGM would want Kyles and Murry to both come off the bench to spell Hannah and Reggie.
