Man, there are some bitter hypocrites here. This whole it does us no good to play them is the same crap we as Shocker fans have heard many times so now that we have a little leverage let's throw it back at them? This argument, to me, is lazy by fans and by coaches that say it. The only reason it gets brought up is because we're not playing each other and everyone knows we should be.
Does it do us any good to play Savannah St.? No, but we're playing them thus each coach or fan base isn't really talking about the worthiness of them to be graced with a game with their beloved team. We may not like the RPI implications but that a different argument.
Bottom line is the state of Kansas is a basketball hungry state that has three quality programs. (I know we can debate the merits of quality but none of them are bottom feeders by any stretch) It makes too much sense to play these games and everyone around knows it but for a variety reasons; job security, pride, arena revenue, scheduling, whatever etc. it doesn't happen and the ultimate losers in all of this are the fans. So people focus on any excuse given or needed to justify not playing games nearly everyone wants to happen.
If you're not going to go all the way, why go?

I'd put K-State near the top of my list of opponents that would be fun to play outside the top 25. Easily a top 30 OOC opponent in terms of "fan fun factor", in my eyes anyway.

        I hope it happens.
I always get a small chuckle when someone says that...do I correct them or not...If it's a topic I strongly disagree with I point out that they have just agreed with me. lol

I think it was talked about before but how about a four team shoot out at the Sprint...WSU, Mizzou, KSU and that other team up north. Saturday and Sunday Winners and losers play on Sunday. That should get some TV interest.

I doubt KU and KSU would want to play each other. The already have the potential to play 3 and possbily (although unlikely) even 4 times a year if KSU can get into the NCAA Tournament. I think for those 4 teams to work it would have be KU vs Mizzou and KSU vs WSU followed by KU vs WSU and KSU vs Mizzou.

You could rotate KU and KSU every other year and invite a 4th team every year to fill out the field.

My guess would be ‘hell would freeze over’ before KU and Mizzou meet again during the regular season… unless future realignment puts them back in the same conference or Bill Self retires. :)

I couldn't not care less about playing K-State.

Not sure how I couldn't be more clear.

"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:

There was a time, not very far back in the distant pass, like yesteryear or a few years before, when it would have certainly strengthen our schedule had KU or KS thrown us a bone.

They chose not too. So screw them. We do not need either one of them Anymore.

Perhaps sometime around 2025, WSU out of pure sportsmanship, might condescend to throw them a bone.

I disagree with them. Seems there are lots of Shocker fans that think Bruce Weber and Bill Self have the right idea!

                              My outsider perspective:

I would encourage playing them at Koch in place of a UMKC or Savannah State, but I wouldn't make them a priority over any other Big 12 or P6 school on your schedule. :poster_wu:

I would be in favor of playing. Having said that we should approach any inter-state series from a position of strength. We don't need them anymore. While historically, we may not be equal to KU, in the past 7 years, we are as good or better. As for KSU, our program has currently left them behind. They need to accommodate our needs more than dictate to us.
