Newspaper resources are stretched incredibly thin these days. I have a friend who was recently laid off from the newspaper biz and according to him it's absolute carnage inside. Not trying to provide an excuse, just a plausible explanation. And trying to give the Eagle the benefit of the doubt for now. But again, they need to fill that position ASAP.

I have many friends in the media business, both print and broadcast, and RMS is correct. It's brutal out there because, as we all know, no one is willing to buy a paper these days and advertisers are going elsewhere (I'm looking at you Facebook) because they have enough data (up to 5,000 separate data points on the average American) on those of us who can't help ourselves from tooling around the interwebz.

It's a shame really, because as others have pointed out, there is a demand for local news and information.

I would agree with this. I spoke to Paul after he made this switch and tried to give him grief about making the big bucks now. He told me he was just happy to have a job.

But what price are consumers willing to pay for that news and information. Apparently at a price point that doesn't allow the provider a profit.

Well, if they looked at MY datapoints, they'd realize that Shocker news is HIGHLY desired! (albeit from Oregon)

I was willing to pay $36 a month for digital and print until my new carrier failed to deliver a paper for his first two days on the job. And considering that half the paper is advertisements and day old stories he did me a favor.

I had a similar issue, missed the Sunday paper for around two months.

But given that the printed paper was getting further and further behind the news (to accommodate bring printed in KC) I guess they helped.

Still miss treating the paper on the weekends.

The website is an unreadable morass of ads, even when paid for.

I'm sure there are a lot of broken hearts across America...

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

No date, but I received the letter this morning.

                              • Noticed the SUBSCRIBE button at the bottom. Also, did not notice any mention of coverage of other WSU sports as they enter their first year in the AAC. New WSU beat writer?
