Originally posted by BOBB View PostI think Zach is a very good defender, a good player, and deserving of his starting role on the team. McDuffie is a more formidable defender with his length. Neither would qualify as a true "stopper" in my book. Good defenders on a good defensive team. Connor is the only weak spot defensively for our starting 5 and he suffers mostly due to comparison.

While I would give Brown an edge on D. versus MM, as the Season progressed, the difference between the two defenders seemed closer to me. Two stats of interest goes as follows: "ZB--24 steals and MM 42 and ZB with 7 blocked shots and MM with 11. The point is, both are good and I look for improvement from both of them this Season and in big hopes our Team D. is better than even last Season.Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

McDuffie regularly gets underrated on offense and defense by people on this board. Since he can play the 2-4, I don't think there's a starting lineup in the country that he wouldn't make better.
Personally, I think it's because his offense is so effortless most of the time. And on defense, I think some of us just didn't appreciate the huge leap he made.

McDuffie has a better D-rating(in fact a top 15 nationally one), higher steal rate, block rate, lower foul rate, higher defensive box +/-, and higher DWS/40(in fact falls just outside the top 20 in DWS total). McDuffie is a LEGIT defender, as is ZB.Wichita State, home of the All-Americans.

Originally posted by shockmonster View PostI agree with your points. Conner's lateral quickness is not a strength, and he has difficulty fighting around screens. He does have other strengths and is a good team defender, but his on ball defense isn't where you'd like and his lack of height doesn't help him. Reaves also isn't a great on ball defender (lateral quickness is not good) but his height and high BBIQ hides some of his deficiencies.
