Gregg's defensive system begins with strong on-ball pressure on the point guard or whomever is setting up the offensive action for the opponent. Disrupting, altering, eliminating, changing, or deflecting the initial pass/drive is the key to defensive success. CF wasn't always able to guard close enough to apply pressure without getting beat by the opponent dribble/drive. ZB was able to apply pressure on the ball from a little bit farther away to still protect the dribble/drive. MM could be even farther back but still apply pressure (more correct to say "interfere" with the initial pass).

Conner made the right choice when he stepped up to the challenge to play Marshall type defense. Lots of credit to his efforts in this area. He can improve as a defender during his senior year.

PS. Brown has made it easier for some of our better offensive players to operate. It is not always the normal for your best player on offense to be your best on defense. It also takes more energy to slow down the opponents best player. We were certainly spoiled by Ron, Fred, Toure, & Malcolm as they regularly stepped up to the challenge.

Saw a video on Snapchat or instagram of Asbjorn doing a post drill with contact pads. Seems very physical and tough just from those videos. Obviously that's different from playing a pick up game.

Talked to a longtime Shocker fan briefly. Told me he and a buddy have attended several practices and says AM aka Thor has looked very very good. Said when he showed up his hair was long and sporting a pony tail.. HCGM suggested he get it cut. Looks like he follows instruction well.

How often and what days is it best to catch a pick-up scrimmage? Does your buddy have special access to practices?

It would not surprise me if they have special access since I always see both of them at every away game on TV.
