The main reason I was for bringing FB back was that it looked like the only way we could get into a decent conference was to do so, other than possibly getting an offer from the Big East.

And then came along the miracle situation of The American Conference with 12 FB schools and only 11 BB schools. Talk about something from heaven falling into our lap. WoW!

Also, considering of late, Kansas Div 1 football is not exactly setting the world on fire. Plus, it would likely take a significant number of years for us to even get to the stage of being able to beat lowly KU.

I wouldn't project we will never play major FB. Our situation could very well significantly change as we advance along with our new conference and perhaps be on a much better financial footing in the not too distant future.

I thought Navy used to have a basketball team, because I though David Robinson played for them?
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

They do. Their basketball team plays in the Patriot League.

I would love to see football back but the reality is that there is not any where close to enough financial support for football. There are no significant donors stepping up to fund this. I don't see this happening anytime soon.

I'm one of the few knuckleheads that would love to have football but I'm glad Bardo and Co. did it the way they did by going after the conference affiliation first. If they would have recklessly forced football in order to secure a better conference, it would have probably ended in disaster. Landing in the American the way we did was a dream scenario. I understand that there isn't enough support for football and probably won't be for a long time but never say never.

A year ago, I never would have believed we got into the American. With the way the school is growing with innovation campus, and in a new conference, we may start to see a pretty good jump in enrollment to where the demand may eventually be there for football. And if we become successful in our new conference, earning NCAA credits year in and out, actually earning money with our TV deal (although smaller than our conference mates), we could be in a position where it's feasible down the road.

I don't want football to come back and think it will always be a losing proposition. If it does come back, however, I think you have described exactly how it would happen. This is a reasonable statement of the pro-WSUfootball position that doesn't discount the challenges and describes what is at least a POSSIBLE path forward. Well done.

The poll asked about what fans WANT. Not necessarily what is realistic or reasonably doable.

I want a lot of stuff I know I will never have. But I still dream about winning the lottery and making that happen.

exactly. I though about a poll asking: If you had 500 million to donate to WSU athletics you would.

Donate it under the stipulation NO FOOTBALL.

Start planning on where and how big you name will be displayed on the new football complex.

Forget WSU I have one word for you. Hookers and blow

I would like my name at mid field.

FSF. it has been many years since David Robinson played BB, but it sticks in the back of my faded memory that he had to get a special compensation or something as the Navy's maximum height is listed today at 6'8". The only listing I could track down was that David was listed as 7'1' while playing in the NBA. Could not find anything about how tall he was when he joined the Naval Academy.

Obviously, height and weight restrictions do play havoc with the Service Academies abilities to compete proficiently against Div 1 schools in many sports, and who knows, the old tape measure may have been frayed mighty badly near the top.
