  • I wish him the best like most of us do. I know he will be successful there, probably in the tourney next year, but who do we get now? We have 7 schollies to fill for next year!! HCGM needs to pull another rabbit out of the hat.

10 years with HCGM and he gets to run an up and coming program? He has paid his dues... I am happy for him....

I could understand if you felt this way about Heiar

      • I wonder if Coach Brown will get promoted? Maybe if Tom Crean isn't busy touring with Devo and is getting a pretty sweet payout from IU, maybe he'd like to come aboard.

        • Happy for Jans. Sad for us. This is a great opportunity for Isaac Brown to step up. The silver lining is an assistant position at WSU has to be a very attractive opening.

          • Anyone who criticizes for "a lack of loyalty" needs to pull their head out. He has been nothing if not loyal to this program and HCGM. Do you all really think Jans' only option after Bowling Green was to be a consultant here? Doubtful. I'm sure there were many places he could have gone and been a full assistant. I am very appreciative of his contributions here and know he will be successful at NMSU.

            • I wonder if they have somebody lined up we down't know about and promoting CJ was to push up his payday at NMS

              • I suppose this is a good opportunity for CJ, but wow. Sometimes high character, requires a human to make decisions based not just on what is the "best" for yourself. I rather doubt if he did have any other opportunity other than WSU after his Bowling Green debacle. It appears WSU sacrificed our top assistant in order to promote CJ at a time when we are closing in this fall on what is perhaps the most important recruiting class GM has ever signed. CJ knows this and still does GM and WSU like this? I don't know, sometimes people don't change.

                • This sucks for our program. But you can't fault the guy. I'm sure 3G doesn't either. You can't turn down a HC job that pays a lot more than he would be making at WSU. It's more about his family and his goal to run a program.

So what we've lost two assistant coaches, rather that than losing Marshall. if you don't think Marshall has a list of replacements your mistaken. The Shockers will be fine.

I also don't think this is some kind of conspiracy, the little green men has nothing to do with it. (Back and to the left)

I'm sorry, but this is one of the dumbest, most self centered points of view I've ever read on SN. You'd give up a chance to run your own program, make amends for the mistake you made previously, and walk away from $100k+ vs your current job just because it's important for WSU to have a transition year to the AAC? Cmon guys. Best of luck to Chris and thanks for everything you've done for us. Perhaps the issue is our assistant coaches need to get paid more.

                    • If money was a factor I would be severely disappointed and I would assume Gregg would be as well.

The only reason he has had high paying job the last 2 years is thanks to WSU, WSU is the primary reason he got this interview, WSU by all accounts just cleared a spot to promote him.

I think it's reasonable to see why someone would expect a little allegiance to WSU.

                        • I don't buy the idea that ACGH was shown the door so that we could promote Jans.

Yeah I don't buy it either.

A lot of ASSumptions being made.

That's an interesting theory. I don't know if that was Gregg's intent but I would say, much like recruiting players, 3G is probably shaving everyday, knowing he's going to always have to look out for prospective assistant coaches.

Best of luck to Coach Jans. Hate to see him go as he was a key, not the only, but a key to our success. Somehow, I think we'll survive this.

Let's see how the judges rate this long-jump assumption:

                                9.9 10.0 9.7 9.3 9.8 7.0

                                The Russian judge strikes again!
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.
