I like UA... I hope WSU goes with UA... too much Nike.

Glad we're going with UA if it gets us a better deal than what we have with Nike. UA makes some pretty solid IMO. Yeah, they have a few misses here and there but at least they're not Adidas. I can't think of any Adidas uniform or shoes in the last 15 years with an exception of a few that aren't completely hideous. Quality seems to be an issue with them as well. I remember hearing about Wisconsin getting a shipment of Adidas gear during the tournament a few years back and they got stuff with Nebraska or some other Adidas school on it. Now you see them with UA.

This will be a nice deal for the whole athletic department and athletes.

In hindsight, I wonder if that was a dig on Nike and he knew something better was on the horizon?
Rode back to Portland beside a Ks grad who worked for Nike's college division. Said deals are on many levels, basically revolving around: whole AD representation, single sport deal, etc. Can negotiate ALL equipment, unis/shoes, etc. To get CASH plus free stuff, you need more than just a willing coach/athletic director. I suspect HCGM meant we weren't (yet) at the level to get free equip or cash plus. Sounds like AAC has a better deal than we could get independently from ANY company.

They probably made them a sweet deal. Uniforms, shoes, and a couple of full-time criminal defense lawyers.

I can't imagine any scenario where a vendor can force a collegiate player to wear any particular brand of shoe.

                        o

I think I remember reading that HCGM said he players could were any shoe they wanted as long as it was a Nike. Maybe Nike can't force a player, but the contract could require compliance and the coach could demand compliance

I guess so. Things have changed a LOT in the past 20 years if that's the case. I suppose this could be unique to basketball too.

I hope this goes through. Personally, I hate our uniforms. I really liked the ShockerS unis we had for the Final Four but everything before and after has been boring, and in the case of our current away jerseys, downright ugly.
