The meat of the home non-con (CoC, OU, Ark St., FGCU) features 4 teams that I would suspect will be better to significantly better based on their performance last year and what they have returning.

My prediction: IF WSU (and it's a big if) can win the first 2 games in Maui AND most WSU non-con opponents can avoid the injury bug, WSU will have one of the very best NCSOS in the country.

They have a 2 year transition period for their D-II move where they have to downsize their scholarship numbers and are ineligible for postseason play. It's unclear whether they will count for RPI/KenPom this coming season.

We will hope they do not.

I thought I had seen definitively somewhere that they would not. I'll try to find that when I have a chance.

IDK but the Google tag for this site says Wichita State Shockers Basketball Stillwater Tickets - Cheap Stillwater

Cheap is really becoming a relative term these days.

          • I would think you would do better on tickets to wait until the school actually puts them on sale. Looking at their last year box scores, about the only game that was well attended was for KU.

            • I'd be shocked if tickets to the @OSU game weren't both cheap and available at-will. Basketball in Stillwater ain't so much a thing anymore, and hasn't been for a long time.

Ever since they added that goofy expansion to their arena, their atmosphere and percent of capacity went all to hell. Certainly a test case for WSU to observe with CKA, although CKA is much larger than OSU's barn pre-expansion.

but surely they will sell out vs wichita state? the #1 team on their ooc shcedule.

it's kind of a foregone conlusion that wichita state pays them back.. but still..

                • Ever since Eddie Sutton retired OSU basketball has lost it's mojo. I've heard a few of their fans also blame the OKC Thunder for stealing their attendance. If they could ever get a decent coach to stick around for awhile, they could probably change all that, but T. Boone Pickens seems more focused on paying football coaches.

                  • Still waiting for Cincinnati's full schedule to be announced but I believe we now know all but two OOC games...

                    H- Coppin State (336)
                    N- Buffalo [Cayman Islands] (146)

                    H- Cleveland State (260)

It's a pretty dismal schedule in terms of buy games and the preseason garbage tournament we are in...

Replace the UCLA, Xavier and Florida games with SEMO, Eastern Illinois and Wright State and then you have a typical Evansville or Missouri State schedule.

                        • “NCAA Tournament Regulars in Danger of Missing the Big Dance in 2018” – Bleacher Report

                          September 8, 2017

Dayton, Oklahoma State and New Mexico State have each played in four of the last five NCAA Division I men's basketball tournaments, but they are at the top of our list of tournament regulars most likely to miss the Big Dance in 2018...

Dayton is probably going to miss the NCAA tournament after losing head coach Archie Miller and four starters.Joe Robbins/Getty Images Dayton, Oklahoma State and New Mexico State have each played in four of the last five NCAA Division I men's basketball tournaments, but they are at the top of our list of tournament regulars most likely to miss the Big Dance in 2018.

To be defined as a tournament regular, a program must have either gone to the last three NCAA tournaments or at least four of the last five NCAA tournaments. Using that criteria, there were 30 eligible candidates for this list. However, most of those teams could be immediately removed from consideration, since they are more likely to play in the Sweet 16 than the NIT.

There are still plenty of teams—from minor, mid-major and major conferences—that do seem to be headed for a less successful season than usual.

Teams on the following slides are ranked in ascending order of confidence that they won't make the 2018 NCAA tournament.

Note: Tournament regulars we aren't worried about are Arizona, Baylor, Butler, Cincinnati, Duke, Gonzaga, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Purdue, UCLA, Villanova, Virginia, West Virginia, Wichita State, Wisconsin and Xavier.

                          10. Providence Friars
                          9. Oregon Ducks
                          8. Maryland Terrapins
                          7. Oklahoma Sooners (Non Conference Opponent)
                          6. VCU Rams (Potential Maui Invitational Opponent)
                          5. Michigan Wolverines (Potential Maui Invitational Opponent)
                          4. Iowa State Cyclones
                          3. New Mexico State Aggies
                          2. Oklahoma State Cowboys (Non Conference Opponent)
                          1. Dayton Flyers"

When I got to this paragraph, I had a smirk on my face imagining getting in a time machine and showing this to my 2011 (or better yet, 2005) self to watch the reaction. I think it would have been a gumbo of confusion, giddiness, ecstasy, skepticism, "I knew it!", disbelief and about 12 other emotions.
