"The University of Houston Men's Basketball program will enjoy 12 non-conference (NC) regular-season games, including a Dec. 2 showdown against former Southwest Conference rival Arkansas, and an exhibition contest during the 2017-18 season, Head Coach Kelvin Sampson announced Monday. Renovations continue on the $60 million Fertitta Center. Administrators are finalizing home venues for the 2017-18 season pending completion of the NBA and American Athletic Conference schedules in August...."

Another stinker of a NC Schedule and very sad for a team that finished so well last year, and will be predicted to be finishing in the top half of the AAC.

          August 22, 2017

University of Memphis head men's basketball coach Tubby Smith announced Thursday the program's 2017-18 non-conference schedule, which features 10 home games and trips to New York City, Annapolis, Maryland, and Birmingham, Alabama. "Our team will be tested early on against Alabama, who was in the NIT last season.

I am also impressed by the teams we have on our schedule that played in the NCAA Tournament last season in New Orleans and Northern Kentucky. Finally, with the historic rivalry game against Louisville, we have a very competitive schedule that will entertain our fans and test our players...."

The Memphis Tigers have a fair NC schedule for this season, but not many opportunities to get some marquee wins.

Wish we had less games over 200, but we have enough chances for marquee OOC wins. I know scheduling Coppin State was a favor to Ollie's buddy, Juan Dixon, in his first year of head coaching. Beating a depleted Oregon in the PK80 tourney is key, as it means a second round match-up with Michigan State instead of Depaul.

Can't wait for the season to begin!

Love this schedule, we are getting closer to getting a schedule like this and I think we will get it if we can stay consistently in the Top 25 moving forward.

                            • Oklahoma State game will be a 3pm tipoff on ESPN2! Perfect time! Not too early for an before-dawn departure, but not too late to be a late drive back home.

I wonder how/if Oklahoma State might screw around with this to keep Shocker fans from getting into the building.

The teams we KNOW we are playing had an average RPI last year of 94. That does not include 2 of our best potential games in Maui, where 3 of the 5 remaining possible D1 opponents had RPIs in the 20s last year. The meat of the home non-con (CoC, OU, Ark St., FGCU) features 4 teams that I would suspect will be better to significantly better based on their performance last year and what they have returning.

My prediction: IF WSU (and it's a big if) can win the first 2 games in Maui AND most WSU non-con opponents can avoid the injury bug, WSU will have one of the very best NCSOS in the country.
