EO. Let our current stars star with the help of a little role player action.:poster_eo:

(plus he won't demand too many minutes which are in short supply)

I think the issue with Fred is that your team becomes Team Fred. This doesn't necessarily make the team worse, but it doesn't make as much hypothetical sense to consider Fred.

He dominates all aspect of the game. All the other Shockers on the list can fit into the current team concept without dominating it.

        LOVE Wessel's screen!
Dominance is a state of mind.

What would the best starting all star 5 be of the Marshall Era?

I was going to pick Early, but I thought replacing McDuffie wasn't that big an upgrade. I can see the votes for Cotton.

I picked VanVleet. Put him at PG and move Shamet to SF. Shamet's D isn't at Brown's level, but the shooting from the perimeter and the ability to drive and dish would be unstoppable. Feature VanVleet driving the lane and dishing to Morris underneath or Shamet and Frankamp for a 3. Unstoppable offense. Assign McDuffie to just crashing the offensive boards and taking the stuff backs on any misses.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

                Shamet, Frankamp, Brown, McDuffie, Morris?

Montas would have wreaked the valley. Dude was a poor mans Blake Griffin. CJ can kiss the rim, tekele can look down into the cylinder, but montas was probably the most athletic player ever under Marshall. He was a freak.

However, a lineup of Marcus, Ron, TC, Ramon, EO and Carl would give them a run for their money.

For the record, I voted for Fred, but Cle wouldn't replace MM, he'd push MM to the 3. McDuffie at the 3 is about as big a match up nightmare as Cle was at the 4.

But I agreed with Doc. You don't pass on the chance to add Fred to your team. Even if you've got an all-star shooting guard, you don't pass on Jordan. Cle was an incredible basketball player, but Fred could be a five star general if he didn't want to be a professional athlete. Out of this world leadership and competitive drive.

Honorable mention to J. T. Durley and one of my favorites, Clevin Hannah.

Ha! I know. Doesn't do justice to how good he was (especially his senior season). Being immediately followed up by Fred VanVleet didn't help either. But he could ball.

Having more time to think about it I'd have to go with my
favorite player - Ron Baker. Could play 1,2 or 3 as needed.
Always played 100%. Good on both ends and rebounded too.
Just an outstanding all around player and competitor.
