I hope we get under seeded. A pissed off wsu team, is a final four wsu team.

I think the 8/9 game is extremely likely.

Off the top of your head (anyone else feel free to chime in), do 10 seeds reach the sweet sixteen more often than 8 seeds? I'm not convinced this is the worst year to face a 1 seed, but I still would rather face a 2 in the second round. I just don't know if that gut reaction is backed up by stats.

Sweet 16s in the last 32 years:
          6 seeds - 52
          7 seeds - 25
          8 seeds - 16
          9 seeds - 7
          10 seeds - 22
          11 seeds - 19

There is a clear history of 2 seeds losing on the first weekend much more often than 1 seeds. I think this makes sense, as most years, although there may be some discussion about who deserves the last #1 seed, the group of 4 #1 seeds is usually much stronger, as a whole, than the group of #2s.

One other note. 15s occasionally beat 2s. 14s beat 3s. 16s have never won. The 6/7/10/11s that win their first game are occasionally rewarded with a Cinderella rather than a Title Contender. For example, 5 of the 22 10 seeds that made the Sweet 16 did so by beating a 15 seed, not a 2 seed, to get there. It's not all about the 1s being so much harder. It is also about the fact that the 1s always seem to make the 2nd round, while the 2s and 3s sometimes don't.

It looks like the winner of the 7-10 game makes it to the Sweet Sixteen twice as often as the winner of the 8-9 game. I also think 8-9 is likely, so I guess that means I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised that we're given a 7 or we're underseeded as a 10.

I feel a 6 or 7 is appropriate, so I voted an 8. Every year WSU is under seeded, why would I expect anything different now?

                Where would Vagas seed WSU?

Based on national championship odds, a 6. Based on who would be favored on a neutral court, I'm guessing a 3.

I'm guessing we'll be a 10 seed, but we deserve a 7 seed. They've under-seeded us every year since that 1 seed, and they screwed us putting Kentucky as the 8 so they didn't do us any favors there either, so I don't see us getting anything higher than a 10.

Doesn't really matter in the end though since you're playing in the same game if we're a 7 or a 10.

Honestly, I don't even care if they do that. I think we should lobby for it. If you're going to unfairly seed us in the 8-9 game, then just give us another 16 seed to beat the living **** out of and then we can have the 1 just 2 days before we're going to get them anyway. Might as well be fresh.

Let's hear the 1s whine about that. Shouldn't be a problem since you know we don't play anyone anyway.

I wonder this go around if the committee is starting to listen to the argument from high seeded power schools to please not underseed Wichita St.??? If they are listening...perhaps we get a 6 or even a 5 seed. Of course should they do that they'd stick us in the worst possible bracket and more than likely not in Tulsa.

I can't decide if the committee hates it when the "cinderella's", real or perceived, blow up the brackets. There is something to be said for the under-seeded bringing attention of the non-partisans to the dance.

I will be absolutely stunned if we aren't the 8/9, set to play KU in the second round. If there were Vegas odds on such a thing, I'd bet the farm on it.

How much pull does a KU have? Trying to see it from their perspective, I would be lobbying hard about WSU not being an 8 or 9 in Tulsa. That really does screw them. A 7 seed makes the most sense from that perspective. Really nothing to complain about from anybody if we are a 7.

I think people need their eye sight checked if they really think WSU going to be a 6 or 7. In 2013 WSU had an RPI of ~37 going into selection Sunday with 3-2 record versus Top 50 and 5-5 versus top 51-100. The MVC was actually decent with no 200+.

My guess is 9 or 10 though I would prefer the 10.
