6 seeds - 52
7 seeds - 25
8 seeds - 16
9 seeds - 7
10 seeds - 22
11 seeds - 19
There is a clear history of 2 seeds losing on the first weekend much more often than 1 seeds. I think this makes sense, as most years, although there may be some discussion about who deserves the last #1 seed, the group of 4 #1 seeds is usually much stronger, as a whole, than the group of #2s.
One other note. 15s occasionally beat 2s. 14s beat 3s. 16s have never won. The 6/7/10/11s that win their first game are occasionally rewarded with a Cinderella rather than a Title Contender. For example, 5 of the 22 10 seeds that made the Sweet 16 did so by beating a 15 seed, not a 2 seed, to get there. It's not all about the 1s being so much harder. It is also about the fact that the 1s always seem to make the 2nd round, while the 2s and 3s sometimes don't.Last edited by Jamar Howard 4 President; March 6, 2017, 09:56 AM.

I'm guessing we'll be a 10 seed, but we deserve a 7 seed. They've under-seeded us every year since that 1 seed, and they screwed us putting Kentucky as the 8 so they didn't do us any favors there either, so I don't see us getting anything higher than a 10.
Doesn't really matter in the end though since you're playing in the same game if we're a 7 or a 10.

Let's hear the 1s whine about that. Shouldn't be a problem since you know we don't play anyone anyway.

I wonder this go around if the committee is starting to listen to the argument from high seeded power schools to please not underseed Wichita St.??? If they are listening...perhaps we get a 6 or even a 5 seed. Of course should they do that they'd stick us in the worst possible bracket and more than likely not in Tulsa.FINAL FOURS:

I think people need their eye sight checked if they really think WSU going to be a 6 or 7. In 2013 WSU had an RPI of ~37 going into selection Sunday with 3-2 record versus Top 50 and 5-5 versus top 51-100. The MVC was actually decent with no 200+.
My guess is 9 or 10 though I would prefer the 10.
