When's the last time a 2nd seed has been so heavily favored? Probably never.

Can anyone beat Illinois State or Wichita State? Wichita State and Illinois State ran through the Missouri Valley Conference like Sherman through Georgia, but now the two Valley powers must do it all again if they are going to earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament. For the 27th straight year, the MVC is conducting its postseason tournament in St. Louis, and all Valley watchers expect to see the Shockers and Redbirds in Sundays championship game.

That first paragraph is such bullcrap. Can we get out of this conference already?

I will be rooting for whichever team has the best shot to take out Illinois State.

Two-time tournament champion Northern Iowa (14-15, 9-9) is the 3 seed and lurks at the most serious threat to upset one of the co-champions.
                  Ummm .. Says who?

I mean, it sort of makes sense. They technically are the most serious threat to upset one of the co-champions if you are comparing them to the other threats on the spectrum, but that doesn't mean they are a legitimate actual threat. It's all about perspective.

Via KenPom (and people's common sense, generally speaking), Loyola, MSU, and SIU would be the most likely before I'd pick UNI.

For those heading to St. Louis, make sure and say ‘hello’ to former President Dr. Don Beggs and his wife Shirley. Don will be inducted into the Missouri Valley Conference Hall of Fame Friday morning with former Shocker great Eric Wedge. Also, don’t forget to thank him for hiring Gregg Marshall. If you listened to Mondays coaches show, coach Marshall specifically mentioned the ‘winter’ trip to Wichita when him and his family were being courted by Wichita State. He said Don is like a grandfather and they are the ‘primary’ reason for his family choosing Wichita. At the time of their visit (during a snow and ice storm), coach Marshall said the Beggs’ home (Presidents home on campus) was under major construction and Shirley had made fresh cookies and they met in their heated garage. Coach said the Beggs made it feel like home to him, Lynn, Kellen, Maggie and his mother-in-law; he couldn’t say enough good about Don and Shirley. I’ve said it here before, but I’m not sure you’ll find a better couple anywhere. It goes without saying that Jim Schaus also needs a big thank you.

Thank you Don (and Shirley) Beggs!

Remember it well. I also recall the next day (Saturday) the sun was out, wind at about 10-15 MPH, and the temperature was around 59-66 degrees Fahrenheit. It was a beautiful day. Spring had arrived!!!

See lots of Shocker gear in the stands for the Eville-Isub game but no AAC signs.
