Hmm, we don't really need any wins against the RPI top 50, do we?
Dominance is a state of mind.

    • I guess they need to need beat the Blulogs, but would love for them to lose to UNI for us to have sole possession of first.

I hate it but a loss to Drake would hurt us too much. I could see Loyola being a tough matchup for them without Mcintosh, even if the game is in Normal. A loss there or in one of their road games against UNI or MSU would not hurt their RPI nearly as much.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

        • The way this season has gone with our SOS, I'd say Illinois State losing to Drake is probably a lock

            • I'm never rooting for Illinois State in anything so it's an easy decision to me.

Whether Illinois State is 45 or 55, it shouldn't make that much of a difference. I don't even know if the committee even looks at RPI breakdowns anymore like 1-50, 51-75, etc. They just have a full sheet with all of the RPI's and wins and losses of each game. You're telling me #50 is different than #51? Gimme a break. I'll take a 4th straight Valley title, watch the Redturds suffer more, and take my chances. There's no guarantee that 1 win will help us when it matters anyway.
              Deuces Valley.
              ... No really, deuces.

These are the exact team sheets the committee received last year. So yeah, they still include win categories. Yes it includes all wins, but they are definitely broken down for a purpose. To me no there is no difference between #50 and #51. In fact a win over 51 on the road is much tougher than 50 at home, but I don't believe the committee is to that level of discernment.

I wonder how much better the process would end up if they just removed all names from these sheets? From the top and from all the Win/Loss breakdowns. Just list Won @ RPI 42 etc

I definitely think it would make some difference, but I really am skeptical it would make a huge difference(Also anyone who looks at these numbers and data enough has a good idea who is who just based on profile). I think more important things to notice on this is how the layout causes certain things to be emphasized. For example Average RPI Win/Loss, also the highlighting of non-conference games to emphasize how you schedule matters.

One thing that is REALLY good about our resume this year is Average RPI loss. Our average RPI loss is 28 ... We have no red boxes outside of the first column.

Now, the Average RPI Win is really bad.

I didn't think it was hard to listen to. I thought his comments about the upcoming big game against their Rival on Saturday in Normal was interesting. I didn't realize that Bradley was their rival. I guess I get the in-state proximity thing but it's been a while since games with Bradley get the juices flowing.

I didn't have any trouble listening, but i'm sure there are folks on this board that might lose their lunch or something so I wanted to give fair warning.

BU & ISUr have been rivals for a long time. The campuses are less than 50 miles apart.

                            • I read their board and most of the whining came about WSU not calling off the dogs ie starters. Looking at the box scores it shows our starters only played 8 more minutes than their starters and one could assume that was because Fain was in foul trouble.

Actually, according to the box score on goShockers.com, Illinois State starters played 116 minutes and 114 minutes.
