  • Calling the timeout last night ranks up there with Coach finally having enough of Dana mopping up the floor in STL and going out to towel off a make believe wet spot on the court. Classic!😃

When I was a freshman student athlete at WSU we were all required to take a "pass class." This class is essentially an orientation course specifically designed for student athletes. I can verify that while it may not be a part of the curriculum for the course, a small chunk of time was dedicated to how to conduct one's self in interviews as a representative of the university. As we all know, it all boils down to common sense, being polite, and essentially not being a dumbass. Speaking in cliches is also of the utmost importance, a lesson I learned from Bull Durham.

        • Not being a dumbass can be difficult for college-age athletes. Please note that I DID NOT mention KU in that sentence. I just want to make sure no one thinks I was thinking about KU athletes when I made that comment.

Remember the post-game interview with Cleanthony, Ron and somebody else -- maybe Evan? Cle had been sick for the prior game, and one of the reporters asked if he was feeling better. Cle started talking about how the Southwest Egg Rolls at Chili's had made him really sick, but now he was all better, and the egg rolls were really good, so he'd have them again. Baker was sitting there, trying hard to keep a straight face, but eventually couldn't keep from laughing.

Lol I definitely remember that. I'm a genuine believer that much of the reason the nation fell in love with the Shockers is due to the amazing chemistry they had which only comes around so many times in a lifetime. The Shocks were becoming larger than life and fans everywhere love seeing that the people they idolize are humans too.

              • I'm a big fan of the starting lineup last night. We are so much bigger than the opposition at the 3-5 spots, and two of those guys will shut down your best player, regardless of what size he is or what position he plays. And then you bring in Rauno, D-Will, Rashard, Daishon, Austin as your second 5, and STILL haven't put probably the most athletic guy on your team on the floor. The rest of the MVC is going to be keeping underwear companies in business after the collective soiling of themselves after last night's game.

                • I'm trying to decide if I'm leaning more towards it being really bad, really ironic, or just plain old really awesome when they lose to Drake on Tuesday. It's a tough call.

                  • A couple of notes from Moshock last nite:

Conner is bringing his A game - the one I was expecting all along

Landry has no resemblance of a freshman

I wish Shaq would play at that level all of the time

The Jucos are in somewhat of a slump and look frustrated

A couple of observations from Mrs Moshock:

ISUr players look like thugs (she doesn't read SN or MVCfans) - she's pretty perceptive

Good news for Conner - When he's 50 he will still look like he does at 22

It will be interesting to see what the birds do in a Valley road game after receiving such a thumping. Next, I'm prolly selfish but I don't want to share the Valley ship but want us to win it outright. In the scheme of things, The Shocks must focus on our business at hand, one win at a time. Yes, it would be nice if 2 Valley teams Dance, but I still wonder if we can win out our Valley games and even make the Lew Finals, if we might overcome the bubble and get Dance. Being hot at the end can help? This is above my pay grade having clear understanding on this so of course we need to just win the Lew.

                      • I just love how Marshall's teams all of a sudden "figure it out." A young Fred and Ron "figured it out" with about 8 minutes to go against Gonzaga. I think we saw the same event last night.

Last nights game reminded me of the UNLV game at home in Stutz and Murry's senior season. The team turned it on and dominated!
