Hats off on an absolutely lethal ass-whipping last night. Thought we were going to see a slugfest the way the first 10 minutes went, but then it went down the tank for us quickly and you guys never let up. You got on a huge run to end the first half, and an even bigger one to open the second---nobody has been able to do that to us all year. Then you guys did the right thing by not once letting your foot off the gas pedal. For whatever reason we just had no fight last night, which was very uncharacteristic of us and you exploited it perfectly.

Good luck the rest of the way and hopefully we see a great rubber match in St. Louis.
It's always good to hear from you before and after games! Personally, I can't even get on the internet after a tough loss. Your class and humility is something I aspire towards!

    • I attended the Newman H-O-F festivities last night (had a dog in the fight) and missed the game. I recorded and watched it late last night and was pleased with the 40 minute beat down of Clown State. Their prisoner board was very upset we made them dig ditches late in the game and didn't give them a break to rest and drink refreshments. Nice game SHOX!!!

You guys really needed to win in Normal 3 weeks ago or the race was likely over. We had to win last night or the race WAS over. Desperation is a powerful motivator.

All fans should look at the first 15 minutes to see what ISU is really like. I'm not taking anything away from our guys....but most teams in the country would have been in trouble last night the way they got after it and shot it. Even shorthanded, you could see ISU's athleticism, talent and defensive skill set and effort. WSU turned it up a notch or 6 and it was game over, but this is an elite defensive team in ISU and they'll be fine.

        • Game report from the Blono newspaper.

Several comments about the great crowd support and energy.

I think this game will prove to be a bit of an outlier. I would not expect anywhere close to a repeat if the Shocks and Redbirds meet again in St. Louis.

          • I'm sure I wasn't the only one to notice, but after Conner hit the long 2, then a 3 to blow the game apart in the 2nd half, WSU got another stop and I think it was Kelly who passed the ball to Conner near half court on the left side and the entire crowd said "shoooot" as he crossed the hash mark.

The building would have come apart if he'd fired another one in at that point. Really happy for the young man right now.

He thought about it too. He looked down but realized he was nearly to half court

                  • You would think the scout team would have recognized that play.

                    • Anyone have clips of MM acrobatic plays? Particularly the fast break euro step and the baseline curl under?

                        • It appears Coach is starting to find the right rotations. Perfect timing.

                          • I definitely feel good heading into this home stretch. Per KenPom, our chances of going unbeaten the rest of the way are 42.7% (50.4% if you assume all our home games are victories). ISU's chances of going unbeaten the rest of the way are 19.6%, and probably even less without McIntosh.

The real test will be at Loyola next Sunday, though. It won't be an easy task.

                            • Conner and Shaq may be playing themselves into some post-season All Valley accolades. I can see both these guys making 2nd team with Shamet and McDuffie challenging for 1st team if we can keep the momentum going.

I like this lineup of CF, LS, Brown, MM, and Shaq. Shaq, keep getting us the double/doubles and keep playing with poise. Not only are Brown and MM defending spot on, neither had a turnover, Brown led us with 5 assists, and Duff led us with 3 steals and has quite the high speed motor for us.

The old adage about the best thing about Frosh. are they become Sophs. Not so with LS, and I am glad he is only a Freshman because he is rock solid, learning, and improving. Mr. Frankamp is finding his groove in the confines of our Team play and is on a positive roll right now. 18 points, 4 assists, 2 steals and no turnovers for CF in a Valley game we had to win. A Great day at the Office for CF and the best is yet to come.
